Nutro Dog Food?
 
Well we are FINALLY almost done with the free bag of dog food the breeder gave us and I'm excited as I wasn't. A huge fan of the brand we got but ah well! We just went to the pet supply sore and the nutritionist there recommended switching Cody to Nutro, so we bought the puppy formula and I'll be trying it out tonight!


Just wanted to know some experiences with this brand of any of you have any. I know it will be a much bigger step up than the old brand.

Have you googled the Nutro brand of dog food? It's caused many serious illnesses and even deaths in dogs and cats.

Really? I was actually going to switch him to Orijen or Taste of the Wild, but she recommended it. I'll be googling.

Either of those would be MUCH better choices. Orijen is an excellent food.

Thanks so much Bonbon! I googled and told my mother about the situation. We are taking the food back tomorrow (luckly we didn't open it yet).

Thanks for the heads up! I'll probably get Taste of the Wild as they had that in the store as well along with Wellness and Canidae.

We tried Nutro too after Holly finished her original dog food and it made her sick. We had to take her to the vet for some meds, because it really screwed up her digestive system. I could literally hear her stomach churning and gurgling when she was earing Nutro.

Yup -- I heard sooo many bad stories about Nutro. Just google Nutro Consumer Affairs. I fed it for about a week and then stopped. Nothing bad happened to us but it wasn't worth the risk :)

I had Roxie on Nutro for a few months, and it caused her to vomit...a lot. Once I switched her to Innova EVO the situation improved greatly.

We had our cats on Nutro - right before all of the dog illness occurred.

We switched everyone to Science Diet. And now our puppy is on Science Diet - it's what our vet recommends.

This happened to me too. I found out the nutritionist at the Pet Supply Plus was an employee of Nutro, so of course we would push their food.:rolleyes:
I had heard so many bad things about it here I didn't even consider it. After only a few seconds of conversation with me, I guess he could tell I had done my research b/c he left me alone. :D

Wow! That's the store we went to as well. Most definetly not listening to her anymore. I believe we are going to return the food tomorrow and then either get Taste of the Wild, Innova, or Orijen 8)

HaHa! I bet she was also employeed thru Nutro. He did not offer the information freely. I asked him if he worked for Nutro. Sneeky people out there ready to make a quick buck:cool:

I used TOTW, but switched due to it having ethoxyquin. You many want to read up on that before you decide on TOTW. There are several threads on YT about it.
