spinning My Karma does circles. i do believe its a nervous habbit, but she goes in circles a lot. I notice it more when she isn't sure whats going on..like if i get up and start to walk away, but stop to think, its like she can't stop moving so she will do circles until i start moving again lol Was just wondering if anyone else has faced this before? Also, any suggestions on helping her to stop cowering. She cowers anytime someone in the house gets loud. (with three kids that is just about all the time lol if I yell at the kids or for the kids she really cowers and curls up in my lap) she also cowers whenever she meets new people or new dogs. |
Is she spinning in circles because she's excited to be going somewhere with you or is that the time you notice it but she does it other times also? Circling is a symptom of liver shunt. Portosystemic Shunts FAQ As far as cowering many are frightened by loud noises or yelling and it sounds like she has a submissive personality. Exposing her to lots of different enviroments and people will help her get over her fears |
Pixie loves to spin for a treat! That was her second trick I taught her and now I think it is her favorite. As soon as I get a treat in my hand she will look at me and wait for the comand to spin. It is so cute!! |

I was looking at this question and answer and wondered if perhaps she had been confined for long periods of time by the previous owner. Have a vet check out the dog first but I own a spinner and have rescued one. Both were spinners because of long term confinement in small spaces. PM/PetStore dogs do this as well. I can interrupt the dog I own with an obed command but after owning him for 6 yrs he still spins usually when he comes inside. The other was a GSD that was chained for 18 mos on a 2 foot chain, she also would spin when excited and we used her protection training to help her focus and reduce the spinning. Sometimes interrupting helps and sometimes using an obed command helps as does you leave when she spins but the few dogs I have known that were spinners were spinners always. How do you stop a dog (Yorkie) from constantly spinning? - Yahoo! Answers Anyway, I don't know if this could be it. I noticed another person there stated it was excitement while another mentioned there was information about this on The Dog Whisperer site. Hope you figure it out.:) |

My pom use to spin all the time. My vet said she may walk a straight line when she got older and wasn't so excitable. She never did stop. |
