Vectra 3D.....Dog is behaving odd..... Hi everyone...I usually only lurk but I began to give my Yorkiepoo his flea medicine since we are closing in on spring and he's having a very odd reaction to the Vectra 3D. He's usually very friendly and loving....2 days since giving him Vectra he's lashing out at myself and my wife. Scratching, itching and not behaving like himeslf. For the first day after applying the Vectra the dog seemed sick and breathing heavy. He's a healthy 18 month old puppy. Final word of wisdom....don't be suckered into this Vectra 3D by your Vet. They are in it for the money. The medicine is way too dangerous. My dog has been sick and is having mood swings since applying this medicine. This stuff is bad news.... Can anyone recommend anything better? Frontline Plus? Best Regards Chicoman |
Have you taken him back to the vet to be checked. I have had friends whose dogs have developed severe toxicity issues due to some flea meds, consequently affecting their whole system. Especially in consideration that his breathing was affected. That had to be beyond scary...wow!:( |
Do not use Vectra 3D, I just tried it for the first time 06-10-10 and my Molly had an allergic reaction and the vet had me give her two benadryl tablets one to start and then another 6 hours later. I'm hoping that this has taken care of the problem but I guess only time will tell, she seems to be better today. |
Worried at First I had some concerns for the medication at first. I gave my yorkie interceptor for heartworm and vectra D. 12 hours later, the puppy was throwing up constantly for three hours. In the process, I also found grass that he had eaten. I was never sure about the cause for it. He was fine and eating the next day. I did, however, space out medication the next month. I apply vectra D before bedtime so that the oil has a chance to absorb without hands touching the dog. I give interceptor with a treat the next morning. This seems to work for us. I do like the medications. I think it's important to not handle the dog afterwards with any type of topical treatment. They love to lick and some meds can really stick to human hands. Treat before bedtime works for us. |
I have heard a lot of complaints about Vectra 3D and adverse reactions. For that reason, I won't use it. |
I have a year old malti-poo named Bella. Usually at the vet we get Pro Meris, but this time the chick at the front desk gave me Vectra 3D. Usually I always google reviews and I should have went with my intuition but I went ahead and applied it. After a few hours we noticed bella was acting like the stuff was really bothering her. I called the vet and the chick who sits in the front said to give bella a good bath and i can go and get a refund. I got the refund and I asked her if bellan would be okay, wrong person to ask because she was really nonchalant and didn't even seem concerned. She wouldn't even look me in the eyes. Bella wont let us touch her right ear or stroke her head to neck because it seems like it really irritates her. She wasn't like that before the flea stuff. Monday I will have to take her in and have the vet look at her because i'm very worried now. I don't want her in pain or irritated. |
