advice needed My baby got sprayed today. When she was release at 5:00 pm the vet came out to tell me that they were concerned that her temperature had not risen above 100. We were told to keep her on a heating pad and take her temp every 30 minutes or so until it broke the 100 mark and that we should bring her to an emergency clinic if it goes down. Well thankfully it hasn't. She has been staying at a 98. I failed to ask what to do if it stayed the same. Should I be worried if it stays at 98 for the night? She has stopped shaking. I don't know how concerned to be. |

I was told that normal temp is 102. |
It would seem if it was something to be extremely concerned about, the vet would not have released her to you, he would have kept her for observation. Thats just my opinion...Good luck on the recovery! :) |
You might call an emergency vet or an after hours vet clinic and ask them if you should worry if the temp does not come up. They are usually very good about answering questions over the phone. |
I had Gucci spayed but she didnt encounter any problems. If it was such a concern to them why did they release her? I would just call the vet and ask them to be on the safe side.. Good luck with her recovery :) |
thank you for the well wishes. Nomi is doing much better. I was concerned because the vet expressed her concern with releasing her with such a low temp. and the possibility of her going into shock if her temprature would decrease. They released her because though low, her temp had went up from 96 (in surgery) to 98 by the time I came and got her. If it were to go down, then I was to take her to the emergency vet. I wasn't sure what to do if it stayed the same, like it did. YorkieRose gave me some great advice in the general section and she is doing fine at 100 temp now. And I tend to worry about anything that has to do with my Nomi! Strange as it may seem, I have found that members here tend to quite regularly have better advice and be correct more often than the vet! |
I'm glad to hear that she is doing much better. Is she tiny? If she is that would explain why she was slow to regain her body temp. I'm sure by now she's back to normal, we just have to keep these little ones warmer than ususal... |
I am glad your Nomi is doing better and that her temp has risen. |
Glad to hear she is doing better!!! |
