Yorkie vaccinations Hi everyone, I am a new mommy to my baby girl Isabelle :) I recently took her to the vet (Friday) and now she has a lump in the area she received the shot. Is this normal?? She isnt acting sick or strange at all. Also she doubled her size in one month!! She went from 2 lbs (12 weeks) to 4.8 She has a thinner frame and is still small, but is that normal? she was expected to be 5lbs full grown. Guess thats not happening. She is 16 weeks now. Appreciate the help! |
Welcome :) The lump is normal. Sometimes I"ll put a heating pad on Layla's to help it go down- she gets very sore in the area as well. As long as your vet thinks your pup is not overweight- her weight is fine. She probably won't be 5 lbs but that's ok :) She could have just ahd a huge growth spurt and might level off now. |
Never go by what someone tells you is "expected". the best trick I've learned is go by their size at 12 weeks, and DOUBLE. Derby turned out to be exactly that, and we were told he'd be 7 pounds~ "at the higher end of Yorkies" (like what my husband wanted) and low and behold he's a 12 pounder! Now your pup is already over that, but not by much! It may only be a bit bigger! Derby hasn't gained any weight since he was 6 months old, although he filled out more and gained 1-2 pounds after neutering. |

does sound like yours will be more the standard the 7 pounder which is still a very nice size, enjoy! here is my boy a day out in the street rod this was last sunday |
Thanks everyone! And just to clarify she is 16 weeks and 4.8 lbs :) grew 2.8 lbs in one month!! |
3 Attachment(s) I just wanted to say that over 5 lbs is ok :) Layla goes between 6-7. Here is a picture of her- she is compact- and just the perfect size. |
Healthy and happy are what's important...not size. Sounds like your pup is both of those...so, no worries. Enjoy your sweet Isabelle... :) :) :) |
