That's what it said about NV? Hmmm, maybe that's why Alex seems to do so well on Instinct....his arthritis has gotten so bad that nothing seems to help anymore. Maybe I should just keep them on nothing but Instinct?

I'm so excited about trying this new food, Petcurean, than I'm going to go ahead and buy a bag tomorrow and see how they do on it. I know it does contain potatoes so I'll keep a close eye on them with this food. I never knew so many had problems with potatoes.

Yup, it said that about Instinct. :D

I was at the vet with Jackson today just for his annual check-up and booster shots and I asked about the eye goop. There was a little bit left in his eye actually and she looked at it and said it was just allergies. She said the pollen has been really high lately and allergies in dogs don't usually show up until 1 year of age so it would make perfect sense why he never had it before.

Yes, spring is the time for allergies! Airborne allergies are much more common than food allergies. A little Benadryl helps if they get too bad.

Glad to hear it's nothing serious! :thumbup:

Thank you for all your help! :) I wouldn't have known what to ask about w/o you!

And I am suffering from allergies pretty bad lately too. So it's definitely in the air!

Hey Brit....

I'm still with you on it being food related (if you still think it is.:)) I have been dealing with eye gunk since the day Snick came home. He had it BAD when he was on Nutro (barf) and Merrick. It cont when we switched to Evo and then lessened a huge amount when we switched to 100% raw.

Now that we feed a rotation of raw and Acana, Snick still has a lil every now and then. I did try Angel Eyes for a lil bit and still give it to him (very very little-less than 1/8 tsp) about 2 times a week. That helped make his boogers clear instead of dark red. I also think the Acana helped a ton too.

I do think Snick has the smaller eye ducks and I may be battling with this for his lifetime. I'm ok with it. :)

I *do* think it's gotta be somewhat food related as well, because it can't just be a coincidence that since switching the Fromm to the NV after 4 days and it eye goop is sooo much less. I've heard so many great things about Acana as well and test tried it with a sample from my friend and he loved it (I think it was the Grasslands one). As much as he loved the Fromm, maybe it was the potato bothering him. So after this bag of NV is finished, I may get a bag of Acana and begin rotating between the NV and Acana. Too bad for Fromm cuz he loved it. :( But we'll see!

My Maddie doesn't really seem to have what I would call "boogers" in her eyes, maybe just a little build-up in the corners and a small amount of staining, but sometimes her facial hair is wet as if her eyes are "running" or tearing. Is this the same thing you are talking about or something different. If different, it is anything to be concerned about?

Jackson used to just get little eye "crusties" I called them because they weren't goopy... they were, well... crusty, lol. They were simple to just pick out. But lately (since on the Fromm food like I said) it was like goop or boogers coming out of his eyes, it was actually "wet" and I have to use a warm washcloth to just wipe them out. They wipe out pretty easy though. He's never had any permanent tearing (nothing like the Maltese).

This is totally random, but: Thor really only gets goop if he gets a hair in his eye. This happens a lot unfortunately, I check his eyes a couple times a day, which he hates. I keep trying to find a good haircut for him that minimizes this. Anyway, no hair in the eyes = no goop. Just a thought.
