Going to be spayed and moms very nervous! Hello guys! Nervous mommy here. My Bridgette has had three litters of puppies she is 5 now and I'm retiring her and shes going to be spayed as soon as her current puppy has gone home. He goes home at 12 week on 4/11 then we want to have her spayed asap before she goes into her next heat. I have had my females spayed in the past but never spayed a dog that has bred. I think because I know her uterus has been used I just feel she will have higher complications. It would really kill me if something happened to her. Are their any pre spay tests I should have done before we spay her to make she'll come out of it ok? I am super nervous and dont really want to do it but I know it needs to be done. ALSO what should I have prepared and be prepared for when she comes home? My last spayed dog was spayed over 10 years ago. Thanks for your help guys! |
I am sorry I don't have words of wisdom in that area, Shay will be neutered in May, and the vet wants to do blood work first, to make sure everything is okay... I know all these wonderful ppl on here will have all sorts of wisdom for you... Just wanted to say, I will be saying a prayer and thinking about you and your lil one....hope everything goes wonderfully! |
Good luck with the spay. The only advice I have is to make sure she gets her pre surgery blood work done. That can help make sure she will be ok with anastasia(sp). |
I just had Roxie spayed last month. She was a little mopey for a few days, and didn't eat at all for almost 48 hours afterward. I just did the best I could to not pester her and let her rest. Honestly, the hardest part was keeping her calm for 5-7 days. After day 3 she wanted to run and play like usual. She didn't bother the incision site, so she didn't wear an e-collar. Good luck, I will keep you both in my thoughts! |
Thanks so much guys for the thoughts and prayers. I'll talk to my vet and ask them what they have to say about her possible complications. Oh she also has a non life threatening cyst they said they will remove at the same time as her spay. So I'm just really nervous. Im sure she'll be fine but of course any good momma would worry about her baby right? Or am I just being crazy? |
You sound like a great mommy to your babies...I will say a prayer and be thinking about you all. I see you have a pug...I love pugs :D...we have 2 pugs and 2 yorkies. |

Thanks everyone. I know I'll be pacing the floor at home when she goes in for her spay! |
No words of wisdom but just wanted to wish you and your little girl all the best with her spay. :) |
