Ahhhh I got hydrogen peroxide in my dogs eye by mistake!!!!! It fell on him and I think some got in his eye! I washed his face and eyes with water. When it fell in his eye I looked at it and it was a little red and then I washed it with water. The redness has gone down and is not really red now. What should I do. Im scared it might cause damage to his eye and the vet is closed today |
Gosh I don't know but I am bumping this hoping someone who does knows posts ASAP!! |
As of right now he is running around acting normal. But im still worried |
I was thinking that you could call poison control and ask them or on the bottle of hydrogen peroxide what does it say? Is there a number to call. I am just worried if it will cause damage to the eye. |
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE SOLUTION 3% Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention immediately. |
Everything I have read on a quick internet search also suggests clean the eye with cool water and get to a vet. |

O My I don't think he is going to let me run water i his eye for 15min. I did run the water on it though. His eye is back to normal now and i been reading online and people have gotten it in their eye and seem to be fine. A contact company uses peroxide for people to soak the contacts in and people mistakenly get it in their eye. Well thats what I read:rolleyes: |

I also read what you read but it was in humans and anything I read on dogs said was to get it to a vet. |

How long ago was it when you got it in your eye |

If it was my dog, I'd also always call an ER vet, just for consultation, even if all they say is "what you did is right, no need to come in" - like those above have described. |
