Some foods i have been considering would love some help! Osiris is on wellness small breed adult food hes turning one in a couple weeks, i just started him on it as a puppy he ate wellness just for puppies. I have been considering some other brands such as Natures recipe for toys breed Blue Buffalo small breed And Innova dry food He is about 5.5-6 pounds so your opinions on the food and which formulas are best would help. Im wanting something that will make his coat thicker and shiny since i switched him to adult food it seems more dry and which is best for his overall health. He is also really picky with his dog food and it took him a while to get use to wellness small breed i am also not too sure if it is filling him up enough , he seems like he wants food more often now . I will appreciate the help thanks! |
Wellness is a good premium food & many Yorkies like it. If he is doing well on it, then why change foods. As for the thickness of his hair, it's genetics & to make it shiny, you can supplement him w/fish oil w/vitamin E. Maybe the dryness is from the winter weather? Good shampoo & conditioner will help too. |
In my opinion I would choose Innova for sure. 2nd would be Blue Buffalo, and 3rd and very last Nature's Recipe. Good luck, hope your pup takes to the one you choose:). Snick & Viv |
My Sasha is on Blue Buffalo and she loves it. I would have to agree with mimimomo though, why are you wanting to change his food if he's gobbling it down so well? As long as he's healthy and it'a good brand of food, just stick to it. |
Bones? well im not too sure but i been finding these small hair like things in his food i have no clue what it is , ive always been told that wellness is a great food:] He always watched this video on youtube it totally seems fake in my opinion like trying to blackmail the company. But his video shows bones in the wellness dry food, and even though i didnt fall for it i seen some similar looking things in his food this morning when i examined it. Now the guy in this video of course made the bones look way bigger that what im seeing in the wellness bag i have. What i am seeing are these tiny thin looking white long peices that look kinda like straw . I have the wellness adult small breed i know his puppy food just for puppies did not have anything that looked like this in it. It concerns me does anyone see this as well? |
Now that you mention it, there was a thread where the fish formula in wellness had bones. There was another brand of kibble where there was hair. All the other brands of food you mentioned are good premium foods. Maybe you can email the company & request samples. |
I agree with Vivian regarding the Innova. It's an excellent food, and my two have done very well on it. But I do rotate their food periodically, just so they don't get bored. |
I started Bailey on Wellness Small Breed about a month ago, before that he was on the puppy formula, I've never seen anything unusual in the food. It is the only premium brand readily available to my area though, if I had other choices I would try them. |
Darlene Bailey is adorable! Really where do you buy yours from? I buy mine at two different stores. Baileys coat is really pretty im interested in the shampoo and conditioner you may use? not to go off topic of the food. And i did the same thing he was on just for puppies but this is his first bag of the wellness small breed and he seems to really like it. He turns 1 this month:] |
