Free Feeding Frenzy advice plz :confused:Castor Pollux is 9 months now. When I got him the breeder recommended free feeding because he was a puppy and there are alway sugar level concerns and we want him to have a consistant eating place, so free feeding would teach him where his bowl was. Awesome. I still free feed, just leave water and food out all day. Is this ok? What are the pros and cons to free feeding? and if free feeding is not good, how can I make him understand that we're switching to a schedule. I just dont want to switch, go to put down food-- Castor Pollux thinks the bowl is back to stay and think he has until the end of time eating it. Thanks YT! |
I free feed all of mine. Just monitor his intake to ensure he is eating well.:) |
I free feed all of mine, too. I've not had any problems. Just watch his intake, like Mary said. |
Is he house trained? I think that'll be one of the bigger factor. And I've read that some ppl tend to over feed their dog but as long as you monitor their in take, I don't think it's a problem. I started off with feeding him 5 times a day (he was way too young when we got him). And then changed to 4 times and currently being fed 3 times. I will be switching to twice a day in couple months. This is mostly to keep him on schedule but if it happens where I won't be able to be home in time to feed him, I either feed him little extra or I leave the food out. |
