Are joint 'popping' noises a bad sign?? Harley jumps constantly...from couch to recliner, up onto the bed and off again, she just always is jumping and flying thru the air, especially when playing...no kidding. Anyway, recently I've been hearing this little popping noise in her joints, (not sure which ones) when she gets up to jump down from my lap...or if shes been laying for awhile and then gets up too fast. It doesn't seem to bother her, but I just didn't know if this could develop into something bad later? Like I've been reading about the luxating patellas.... It almost sounds like a knuckle cracking. Please tell me its nothing to be concerned about. She just turned 1 year old. Thanks!! |
Its nothing to get crazy about but I would have the vet take an extra look at her knees next time she is in. Also if she jumps that much it wouldnt hurt to put her on some kind of joint supplement to keep her joints healthy. |
Wow!! So weird! I actually came on here to post the same question..lol Chloe is 8 months now and I have just started hearing it too. She is also fearless jumping from couch to couch even jumps from back of couch to ground sometimes which scares me so much. And her favorite spot to rest or chew her nylabone is literally on my shoulder while i'm sitting on the couch. (partner calls her my parrot) So I hear it often as shes right next to my ear. Any how its just like knuckle cracking and I found some stuff online I was thinking of trying just as a preventive measure, not sure if anyone here has used this product before? Thanks so much for the replys...the supplement is a good idea which I had not considered. Can it be found at wal-mart or petsmart? I'm not overly worried about it, since it seems to have just started. But I'm thinking more longterm wise...keeping her from running & jumping is not an option as it would be next to impossible...LOL. She LOVES to play. |

I actually just saw it on Petsmart.com. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the help :) |

Great thank you! |
I had the same issue with Daisy! The vet told me her ligaments were loose, Daisy didnt have the clicking sound but she was limping a lot...she too thinks she's a bird! I began to give her Dasuquin after a possible surgery needed scare and she's been doing great! I would have to have to have her go through surgery, but so far so good...I now give it to both my Morkies and they like it...its Pricey but you can split the tab. :p |

I highly recommend glucosamine supplements - I use Cosequin, too. Yorkies will need about 250-300mg per day after the first couple of weeks (in case you need to know what size to buy). Good luck! :) |
