Petzlife Oral Care Gel Lately, I've started to really crack down on taking care of Sasha's teeth. I'll admit that I've been pretty lazy these past few months  but I know caring for her teeth is really important. I'm trying to brush her teeth at least every other day. I had forgotten that I had a bottle of Petzlife Oral Care Gel so I'm going to begin using it again. My question is, can I apply some to a toothbrush and brush her teeth with it or is it better to just simply apply the gel to her teeth/gums with my finger? |
you can do it either way... I find it easier to use my finger. |
Petzlife has an ingredient that is said to soften tartar, and you can brush it away at a later time. Some people brush with it, but I wouldn't do this, you should only use toothpaste that is safe for the dog to swallow. It's hard enough to brush their teeth, and if they hate the taste of the toothpaste, it's even going to be harder. Joey loves poultry flavored toothpaste, and I use Petzlife in between brushings. |

So, days that I don't brush her teeth, I should put the gel on then? |

My Maddie throws a wall-eyed fit if I try to "brush" her teeth, but if I put the toothpaste on a baby toothbrush, she will lick it off and then chew on the brush. Do you think if I rotate the brush so that she is chewing on both sides that gets the same done as actually brushing her teeth? If I hold it in front of her, she will even use her front teeth to "chew" at the bristles. I also have the Petzlife gel, but she hates the taste of it. I am currently using Placque Off that you add to their food, but I am seeing some brown staining on her teeth. Is that what placque looks like on their teeth? I even purchased the oral wipes another poster recommended, but she will not let ANYTHING in her mouth so I tried getting my finger moist from the pad and just rubbed it along her tooth line. |
I got the Interplak electric toothbrush at Target, it's under $20.00 and has a small round circulating brush, I feel like I can do a much better job with it than the manual toothbrush. I haven't been using it that long, but it's quiet and Joey seems to cooperate better than with the manual. He also didn't like the Petzlife, but I can spray it on fast. http://s7d4.scene7.com/is/image/BonTon/166435?$large$ http://www.bonton.com/product/id/146857.do |
I'm having a problem with just looking at her teeth is there a trick to getting them to open their mouth. My little girl is 2.5lbs and as strong as can be. She wont let me anywhere near her teeth with a brush or my finger. Any suggestions? |
