frosted flakes as a treat after i got my puppy, i was told to give him frosted flakes as a treat. he loves it and goes crazy for it, but i noticed that his tummy growls from the treat. what does that mean? any suggestions on other good and safe treats? |
I wouldn't give mine "Frosted Flakes" they are coated with sugar & will ruin their teeth. Yorkies have lots of problems with the teeth sometimes. Maybe you should try treats made especially for dogs. Mine really like the "Old Mother Hubbard" kind & they are made from natural ingredients like peanut butter. |
Frosted flakes is not an appropriate treat for any dog. You can give your pup raw vegetables as treats, or purchase "dog treats" from a store. many stores have organic baked treats as well. |
My Soph likes Cheerios and since they aren't sweetened and are made from whole grain oats, they are healthy. Maybe switch your baby to cheerios instead of a sugary cereal like frosted flakes. |
I would tend to think that the sugar would not be good for your puppy. Maybe something that is more whole grain and no sugar would be better. :) welcome to YT! :) |
frosted flakes as a treat wow, thanks for all the suggestions! i'll definitely look for something that's whole grain. i'll also try the raw veggies (if my puppy eats it, hehe) thanks! |
This is what I read on Yorkie Talk before I got my own Yorkie. That if you give them Cherrios as a reward then they won't require having their anal glands emptied as it provides natual fiber. So far, so good. No scooting across the carpet on her bum. |
Mine love PB and apples. If you can get to a dog-food store try Wellness jerky, mine both go crazy for it!! |
We use cheerios, dehydrated turkey and venison and animal crackers. |
