Weighing our Yorkies Anyone have a suggestion on what kind of scale to get (used or inexpensive) to weigh our Yorkies? The vet is across town and we just as soon weigh them ourselves. |
We use a postal scale. We orginally bought it for the Pinewood Derby cars that the kids would race. We have to place a plate or bowl on it and put our puppy in it. It helps us to watch her weight gain each week to be sure she is eating enough. |
I asked the same question here a while back. Everyone told me to order a postal scale or a baby scale from e-bay (you can get them for about $25 including shipping). It's worked great for us! |

I just use my kitchen scale. I put a cutting board on it and stand them on the board. |

I just weigh myself and then weigh them and subtract...I mean it might not be EXACT but it definitely give you an idea of their weight |

i also use a food scale it seems to be really close to the vets scale |
We used to raise show rabbits that had to be under 4 lbs, so I was shopping at Bass Pro Shop with hubby of course and seen a digital fish scale, so I got one, I place my babies in a cloth bag and weigh them, works well with any age. |
I use a good, accurate baby scale. Weighed Maximo last night and he has lost 4 ounces, while his new brother gained 4 ounces. |

Using a food scale, fish scale, baby scale, etc. are all great ideas, too. I tried weighing myself and the picking the pup up and weighing with them, but I wanted more accuracy. Especially when they were little puppies, I wanted to make sure they were gaining like they should, etc. |
