We have an outward hound car seat . Sunshine likes the idea of a car ride more than the ride itself. He usually lays there in the seat unless we slow down then he gets up to look around . He does know when we are close to home , then he get all exite and sometimes pants . Steve |
Maddie isn't too fond of car rides either...maybe it is becuase we're usually going to the vet? She doesn't really ride in the car very much. She too likes to lay across the back of my shoulders in the car. It is kind of hard to drive sometimes! |
wow, I feel incredibly lucky. All of mine ride just great. I used to ride with 20lbs of dog (three of them) in my lap and Bear in the back but now with the double look out car seat that goes in the back. It's much better. It seat belts in, and then has two safety leashes so, both girls fit in it perfectly. Baxter sleeps in my lap. The girls sleep in the carseat, Bear sleeps in the 1/3 fold down back with his nose stuck on our console (yeah, he's long). And we do a 12hr drive to visit the grandkids every other month with nary a pip from any of them. I cannot imagine if any panted or god forbid got carsick. I feel for all of you... |

Reesie shakes the whole time and drools and then eventually gets sick, either in the car or right after he gets out. I think I need to look into getting him a lookout car seat so maybe he won't get sick. Right now we have him in his carrier when we travel. |
Roxie pants in the car too. She always wants to sit on the driver's lap. I purchased this a few weeks ago: Pet Lookout Car Booster Seat - Automobile Travel Gear - Pet Travel Gear However, despite following what little directions it came with, I had a bad experience with it. Roxie tried to get out of it while I was driving and wound up hanging out the side by her neck! I had to pull over quickly in order to fix the situation. Needless to say, I returned it. Mine have occasionally climbed out, but since they wear a harness it doesn't harm them. The tethers are long enough that if they do they reach the actual seat and just kinda stand there until I stop or if not driving, reach back, and tuck them back up into the seat. I would not have thought to attach a tether to a collar on their necks. I only use their collars for their tags, never for attaching a leash or tether or anything like that. I only use harnesses for those things. |
