Problem with my yorkie's skin Hello everyone! I am new to this yorkie forum and glad i joined as i will obtain lots of informations! my yorkie is 8 month old and nowdays its been itching all the time. i bathe him with the special dog shampoo that kills ticks and fleas but it still scratches and bites itself. on his skin there likes these brown marks, thought it was the sand or soil on his skin but it was not. so i took it to the vet, they said it was nothing and just gave me stuff to control the fleas. However it wont stop scratching! he scratches on his sides, chin, and the back. recently i found these red dots, its like pimples if i refer to, on his side where he scratches alot. i am really worried and dont know what to do any suggestions? |
Did you change your yorkie's foods recently? Itchiness could be sign of allergic.. |

1st - Be VERY CAREFUL about using flea shampoos especially the kind you can get in stores - they're very dangerous for both dogs AND cats - I hope it's not HARTZ - that stuff should be banned. 2nd - Check into Frontline or Advantage for Flea control - they're much safer than trying to treat with commercial shampoos (which are very toxic). A vet saying 'this is nothing' isn't doing his job IF you know this is a flea problem ....you'll need to treat your home and all his bedding etc. Fleas are really hard to get rid of - your puppy must be just miserable itching and biting like this :(.... IF I were in your shoes - I'd take him to another vet to get this under control and be pro active getting rid of the fleas..... if it's an allergy - that's a whole different story - You could try changing his food. |

THank you guys.. hm.. i went to another vet as i saw the flea running around on my baby's skin. since the shampoo did not work the vet gave me the frontline to put on and this small tablat. i feel really bad as my dog is always scracthing... MAybe it is also the food? because i changed the dog food and guess i have to change back to the old one.. the new one that my aunt got for us had corn's in it. and i read somewhere that yorkies are allergic to corns? i hope is not something serious as i am now saving my money up to take my puupy with me to korea. sigh* |
And another question, is it natrual that the eye area of my yorkie is red? |
