Very Sick Please Help  I have a little Yorkie who will be 2 years on March 15th. Last week showed signs of weakness and right side of lower right jaw was wet. Vet saw dog on Friday. Temp was normal and no infection in mouth. Did a blood test and liver enzymes were high, 388. Sonagram is scheduled for Thursday this week. The little male is weak, slow and his tail is down. He is eating. He is drinking a little more water than normal. Does not appear to have had intake of poisoness materials. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have lost two Yorkies last year and I cannot lose this one. Sincerely, Kirk |

I feel so bad for you and your little Yorkie. I wish there was some way I could help and please know I'll be thinking of you and your little one and wishing and praying for the best! |
I wish there was something I could do for you also. I feel so terrible for you. But Weegie and I will say lots of prayers for your baby and we truely hope evertything will be ok. Sending lots of puppy love and kisses. |
I'm so sorry to hear what youo're going through. I have just lost a Yorkie, a few days ago and I know what a worry illness can be. Let us know what the vet finds and then maybe someone here will have had experience with whatever is diagnosed. If you don't mind me asking how did you lose your other Yorkies? |
I'm so sorry to hear about your yorkie. What did your vet say? It is liver shunt? I hope your little feels better soon. |
My Yorkie, Bailey, did something like that when he was about 8 months old. Stumbled, lack of coordination, drooling a lot, couldn't hold his rear end up. We rushed him to emergency vet and unfortunately the vet was dumber than we were. Clueless. We took him home, fed him little bits of rice and chicken broth (real stuff, not the dry stuff in a jar) and in a couple of days he got over it. Friends had a scare with their Yorkie only worse. Minnie got over it and they concluded that she must have picked up a vitamin or supplement that had fallen to the floor. We suspect ours may have done the same. You can not be too careful with medication and vitamins, etc. Best I could recommend is broth, a little rice, keep your Yorkie hydrated and lots of Prayer. I am praying right now. Blessings to you and your baby. Samc |
I just thought of something else. A couple of times a year we spray for roaches. Our dog invariably finds the ones that are struggling and mouths them. We try to keep them picked up ahead of him but impossible to get them all the first few days. He has gotten a little nauseous but whether it is the roach or the bit of poison they have contacted is anybody's guess. |
I'm sorry to hear about your Yorkie. We will keep him in our thoughts!!! |
Sorry to hear... Gucci and I will keep her in our prayers and thoughts, I hope she is feeling better... |
spray I would say the spraying is a good guess. I have heard those symtoms are typical...I had one bite a flea collar back in the olden days and she drooled too and staggered, needed the vet asap..another inhaled particules from an ant trap..almost died..I live in Florida now and when I see ants I just wipe them away..I do use Borax acid the in back of the cabinets..places they can not get to...but I still watch them. |
