Neutered but biting himself
 
ok so we got my yorkie neutered last monday and he has been wearing an ecollar, but just a little while ago we noticed that despite the collar he was licking himself down there, and had some how managed to get the one stich out (his incision was actually glued shut and the stich was there for added security.)

the skin around the incision seems red, but he doesn't appear to be bleeding anyway and i swabbed the area with some alcohol.

Should i take him to the vet or should i just keep an eye on him.:confused:

Can you post a picture...he might be fine...but I would want to see..

You are right they are double protected with the super glue and the stitches so it might not be a problem...

him we didn't have any issues at all how was you pup when you got him done? mine was glued shut to but no stiches we didn't even have to use a collar....achocol wouldn't that burn? was he ok with that, maybe proxiside I would think....but I would take him back to the vet either way! hope he does better.

He is about 1 1/2 years, i would have used peroxide ut i didnt have any and after he pulled out his stich i decided to use alcohol to disinfect the area, it did not seem to bother him in the slightest. as i said the area is red but its not pussy and he is not bleeding.

well i put a doggy diaper on him so hopefully that will add another barrier.

I had my cat spayed years ago, the vet didn't put an e-collar so after my cat recovered from anesthesia, the 1st thing she did was biting off the stitches (it was the 1st day), the 2nd day she did it again all eventually all stitches came out on 2nd day. We didn't worry too much because the incision was less than 1cm (incredibly small) and it looked really fine, one more to add is, my cat wasn't very active, she didn't like to run, she just loved to take her own sweet time walking and resting. Is your furkid a very active one?

You might want to buy a premie baby onesie to put on him..thats what i did with Pasquale when he was neutered.
