Putting trust in a vet?? How Many off us trust our Vets? Yes there is GOOD vets out there but where? My Wee Cassie died 2 weeks ago she was very ill from Nov 09 with vomiting on and off and bloody stool. First vet tho she had cushing disease run the tests NO CUSHINGS Disease. Had scope ultrasound done plus bloods and urine. she had to stay in to get cushing bloods done I got her back that night and she had urine and stool all over here back end the nurse said we cleaned her up abit, I was thinking too much then coz i just wanted to get cassie home and get her cleaned up coz she hated not being clean or brushed. after that the astompshere Changed coz i had complaint to the vet, she did say she was sorry and that doesnt happen in the clinic much, it got that the vet said If it was her dog I would sit it out and see how she gets on. I change vets because it was as if they give up on her. When i went to this new vets they put her on antibolics and a anti-sickness injection for 5 days. when it got to the 5th day I had to get her at the vets asap she needed a drip on, they had her bloods done and her protein was low, I went to see her on the satur and her bed was soaking in urine and stool i tho ok this is a one off, and i did state to vet that i left the other vets part to do with leaving my dog in this way. When i came up on the sunday morning she had urine and stool all over her back end it really annoy me I told the vet im taking her home with or without the drip on coz she was very serious ill then. to leave a do in that way is not on. I had My wee Princess home for 2 days I was up 24 hrs the last 2 days with her. they wanted to op on her on the tue afternoon but i think my wee dog knew she couldnt cope with the op. She died in my arms on the Tuesday morning which i had always said to her That even if I had to get her put down I wanted to be the last person with her. I have reported this and im waiting on whats going to happen. If nothing gets done Im going to my solictor Coz I dont want this to happen to another Dog or animal. The point to My Story about Cassie is How Many people leave your animals in a Clinic for a few days and the vet just lets you ring up to see how your animal is doing.... We Put Trust in theses vets....... In the uk vet clinic are checked every 4 years which is not enough within 4 years mistakes CAN happen. |
I'm so sad to hear about your Cassie. The most I've left my baby is 2hrs and I called in between. I hear about it allot and I do feel there should be more done to check the clinics/hospitals. RIP Cassie |

Clinics are not check like hospitals for humans which they should be. Vets always go on about animals that are being neglect My Cassie was neglect in both clinics, I do have video on my mobile that the receptionist was stupid enough to close the door when i was cleaning cassie So this will hopefully help me. I know my Cassie is gone But I am doing this so it will help other dogs and animals not be left like this. |
That is a really sad story. I have bad vibes about my vet, he answered a lot of my secret questions wrong. I'd like to find one who is an animal lover and isn't overworked. I'm not aware of any 'vet review websites'. Dog neighbors have told of tales of lousy groomers too. One walked in and the groomer was spraying her dog in the face saying 'I'll show you'. I guess you take your chances on anyone these days, even if they have an 'open door' policy, sometimes they close it. I'm so sorry about your dog. That's really sad. |
To the OP: I'm very sorry for your loss. :( It is really important to establish a vet/client/patient relationship, so if something goes wrong, there is somebody there that you trust. You shouldn't have to be scared to leave them there for a day. |

Protein Losing Enteropathy in Dogs (PLE) And another thing with low protein, low calcium and low cholesterol Lymphangiectasia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Top Intestinal Lymphangiectasia Protein-Losing Enteropathies Yorkie, PLE, Inflammatory Irritable Bowel Disease and another thing is EPI - tli should be run to rule this out http://www.petplace.com/dogs/exocrin...epi/page1.aspx so to answer your question - NO i do not put 100% trust in any ONE person - i usually seek out a specialist in that illness if it is something more serious like what you went through as have been let down in having dogs with health issues and why i try to help others as i have learned no one knows everything about everything and us as pet owners need to do our homework as sadly if you do not you will be let down as you have been sadly. I just wish you were here sooner as i think we could have helped you and i am so sorry you were let down by the vet :( sounds like you went through a horrible experience and i am truly sorry :( |

FYI - a lot of vet clinics are reviewed on Yelp. That's not going to give you everything, but if you see a lot of complaints that the vets seem inexperienced, high churn, neglected dogs, etc, you can take your business elsewhere. |
