Teeth falling out
 
I read another post about teeth getting pulled out. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am new to this. My yorkie is 6.5 months and his teeth have been coming out. He has two rows of teeth...am I suppose to take him to the vet for them to pull it out? I thought we just wait for it to fall out like human children. Again, I'm new to this so any information would be helpful. I come here because it's the fastest way to acquire accurate information that is specific for yorkies.

Why put your little in pain, they will fall out in time.

Ha ha you and me both, same day. Where is the 'merge thread' button? Jennx, where have you found the teeth?

With other breeds this is true, but with Yorkies, they often don't fall out on their own. People usually have them pulled at the time of neutering because pulling their teeth requires anesthesia. If left in the double row of teeth can cause food built up and gum disease, which means the permanent teeth will fall out, and that's not good.

If I'm remembering correctly I think my vet said that at the time I had Coco spayed if she had any left they would pull them since she would be under anyway. I think they pulled one out.

I found one in the crate once...other times I found them barely hanging on when I was brushing his teeth. I had to pull those out and every time I pulled it, I felt super bad! =___= Are we suppose to bring them into the vet to get them pulled? I saw your thread and I got worried because I wasn't going to take him to the vet, I thought they just fall out...

No, you don't need to do it immediately, I would probably do it around a year, you don't want a double row very long. I am concerned with your plans not to neuter him. So many males are rehomed because their owners didn't neuter them in time and now they have marking issues. Unneutered dogs are much more likely to die from injuries sustained in a car accident than any other cause. A male dog can smell a bitch in heat up to 10 miles away, and this causes him much stress. I hope you think this over; a male dog goes through so many changes if you allow him to go through puberty. I think it's much better to keep them a little boy all their lives, rather than allowing them to become teenagers!

I don't know! All I know is right now my puppy bites his tongue twice as better than I do! What did your puppy say to you when you pulled his loose ones, and how in the world did you do it?

Please don't try pulling the teeth out yourself, as the roots dissolve, teeth will fall out on her own. When the roots don't dissolve, it is VERY painful to remove a tooth, that's why the vet puts them to sleep.

My 7 month old female has lost most of her teeth on her own. She does have some new teeth (incisors) "just coming in" on the bottom and she has not lost her baby incisors.
How long should I want for the baby teeth to fall out?

Make sure she has plenty of chew toys, and if she hasn't lost them by a year, I would ask the vet about it. You will want to do more dental care with two rows of teeth; nightly tooth brushing is a must!
