Neuter cost Ive researched and researched and finally found a vet that has very high customer reviews in Tempe AZ.(University animal hospital)..Im taking my 10 week old male for his well puppy check on monday...Ive checked different online sources and most of them say the cost of neutering should be between 100 and 200 dollars BUT This clinic charges 264.00 for the basic procedure and 414.00 if you want pre-op blood work and iv fluids..Does this sound steep or is this what owners pay for "quality" surgical care... Also, anyone in Arizona familiar with University Animal Hospital.. |
The charge doesn't sound too excessive compared to what our small town vet charges for the comparable service. Three years ago I paid over $350 for spay with pre-op blood work, monitoring, and removal of several retained puppy teeth. Given inflation and location you're not being overcharged I don't think. |
I paid $310 just for the neuter. |
Here in SoCal for bloodwork, neuter, meds, and the post visit and a bunch of other extras I can't think of at the moment, I paid around $350. No retained puppy teeth, he was already 1 year old and I think his breeder took care of that. |
I live in Georgia, about 40 miles from Atlanta. I am about to have Harley Neutered and my vet is charging me 85.50 and 55.00 for blood work. What you were quoted sounds kind of high. Christy Mommy of Harley:aimeeyork the Yorkie and Gracie:animal36 the pug baby |
I live near Dayton Ohio and the vet charged $105 for the procedure and $35 for the blood work. Good vet too. Came highly recommended. He even pulled his baby teeth and clipped his nails for no extra charge. |
Prices vary greatly accross the U.S. I'm in Illinois and I just paid $560.00 to have Peanut neutered, 3 puppy teeth removed (one had to have an inscision and stitches though) and his teeth cleaned and a gel protectant put on them. Expensive...maybe...but, I trust my vet so it was worth it to me. Sometimes finding the best price isn't the best way to go...the best vet is more important to me. I didn't price check when I had surgery last year, I went with the surgeon I know and trusted and I will continue to do the same for my pets. Good luck...I hope your puppy does well whith his surgery. |
