Yeast Infection! Is there anyone that has had a cure for Yeast Infections for their fur baby? My friend's fur baby has it on her paws. The Steriods she is taking from the Vet is only making her fatter every day. Has anyone tried a different food for their fur baby or shampoo's or something???? Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance! Hugs, Char |
I found this for you. Hope it helps. You may want to go to that page. It has lots of info on paws.:) Yeast infections may be diagnosed by the evaluation of skin smears taken of the paw. This condition is treated by the use of antifungal medications. PAW CONDITIONS IN DOGS and links to some of the top Grooming & Clipping articles and tips on the net! Clipping Your Dog's Nails! |
Why is she taking steroids? Steroids won't help the yeast situation...will she be going off the steroids? If this yeast is chronic, systemic, recurrent etc (which I'm thinking from how you sound?), the vet needs to address this w/ oral (by mouth) anti-fungals, which is very easy. And then also, an anti-fungal shampoo should be used for at least a year. How are the ears? Is she licking/chewing the paws? |

The paws are a tough thing - some people do vinegar and water rinses on paws what shampoo is vet recommending? assuming ketoconazole shampoo as that is an antifungal. to keep yeast down in body i would recommend probiotics and coconut oil as coconut is a natural antifungal and antibacterial. what food is dog eating as could be getting this from licking paws alot as well. There is a good site on yeast nzymes.com Nzymes - Nutritional supplements for pets and people check it out as a client of mine had good success with this |
if this is an ongoing issue i would STRONGLY recommend going to dermatologist as they have further education in skin and allergy issues which this would fall under |
I am thinking Sugar is on Steriods for allergies. I don't have all the answers for your questions but I will forward this to my friend and maaybe she can fill you all in. I Thank All of you for giving us some really good advice. Hugs, Char :) |
