coffee grinder or mini chopper? I have changed foods on my pup. I want to chop the food a little finer. Am going from RC to BB. I see BB is a little bigger and am so afraid Penny may choke on the kibbles. Such small mouths they have. I bought at store today a small mini chopper. It seems to just shave the kibbles down. Power left somewhat. I don't drank coffee so have no idea if the coffee grinder is a better idea. I have seen some of you gals say you have wore grinders out. Does it just shave the edges off the kibbles too or what. The chopper I can use for other things but the grinder I can't that is why I tried the chopper first.:aimeeyork |
Instead of grinding their kibble, you could always just add some beef or chicken stock into the kibble to soften it up, until they are big enough to eat it solo. |
My Laci has such a tiny mouth, I always by food that has small kibble. |
A coffee bean grinder would likely do a better job chopping the kibble. You can pick one up for as little as $9.99. It doesn't take much to grind coffee beans, so grind for just a second and check the kibbles. |
My guy is almost 5 months and 4 lbs he eats flint river kibble and has no trouble, he brings them out one at a time finds a soft pillow and chows on it...so cute! |
i dont need to chop but i did soften Gatsbys food when he was little and he ate it better |
Thanks, I will buy that grinder. Yes, I do buy the puppy or for small breed. At Petsmart yesterday was a gal from Blue B. I talked to her for about 15 minutes. It was very interesting. I do realize though that one must make up their own minds in the end. The only thing that bothered me was there is a small amount of garlic in BB. It is way down the list tho. We talked about the other brands too. She did not knock the other brands at all but explained what the difference were. I tried to absorb everything but was impossible. I can only hope that I am making the right decision It has a lot to do if Penny likes the food. Well, I mixed a little when I got home and she went crazy over it. Time will tell. |
I will soften the food if need be too. Thanks gals. |
Let me add that Penny is asleep right now and I get a break. YAAAAAAAAAA |

If the coffee grinder doesn't work out, another idea is a manual nut cracker. This is what I use to cut up Snickers's Acana. Acana is small disks and he won't eat them whole. As soon as I cut them in 1/2, he is chowin. I would think the grinder would create much kibble dust and with the nutcracker, I get minimal crumbs, so less kibble waste:). Just another idea....it's working well for us! Snick & Viv |
