How do you switch dry when...... Cissy will no longer eat the Wellness she was on?? She still eats it with some canned added for flavor, but won't touch just her dry kibble. I bought some Blue Buffalo but don't know how to make the "slow" switch. Thanks for any HELP!! |
I feed a rotation diet and always give a bowl of 50/50 for a better transition, but she always picks out the new stuff and leaves the old food spit out on the floor. :rolleyes: It's a bit difficult to transition when they won't eat their food. :p :D You said she'll eat it if it's topped with canned for flavor; so I'd just switch the kibble slowly as you would, but keep adding the canned and slowly then start weaning her from the soft food. Hope that helps. :) |
They do go through a finicky period around 5 or 6 months. They've gained most of the adult weight and just aren't as hungry as they once were, and at this time they may learn to become finicky eaters. How old is your little girl and what does she weigh? Remember they learn very fast that they can hold out for tastier food. Tastier doesn't necessarily mean healthier. |
Thanks for the advice! Cissy is 8 months and weighs 9 lbs. I tried mixing some of the new food with the old and she picked out the new food and put the old on the floor by her bowl. :rolleyes: I can still get her to eat the mix with Wellness canned added so I will just gradually keep adding the new dry slowly and see how her stomach reacts. I'm nervous about making her sick, she's been so healthy so far I feel very fortunate but realize I have to get her back to eating her dry kibble. Thanks again! |

So that is what Pixie is doing. She is doing the same thing being a lil picky and Pixie is 5.5 months old. I just started adding cooked vegetables to her food at night and that seemed to help. I find myself worried when she doesn't eat and I have noticed since she turned 5 months she doesn't belong to the clean plate club! lol;) |
