Hair is getting in pups eyes, is it damaging his sight? I am trying to grow Baileys hair out, so I can tie it and not have to worry about it. He is 6 month old, I trimmed it few times now because it was getting in his eyes so much, but now I've decided that I will just let it grow out. It is long enough on the top of his eyes that I can at least somewhat tie it, but it is a mess on the bottom of his eyes. I "style" it to reduce the amount of hair blocking and getting in his eyes, but he messes it up a second later. It's painful to watch how his hair is blocking his eyes so much, should I just give it few weeks to grow out a little more and not worry too much because it is just a temporary discomfort for him, or could it have any health implications on his eyes? I heard that in human babies , if the eye is obstructed it could cause issues because a baby needs to see in order to make proper connections in the brain to the eye, is it the same for our yorkie babies? If it is, do they develop faster and at 6 months it is no longer a problem? |
Get the human "baby" barrettes from the store. I use them all the time on my little ones when they are growing out their winter coats. They are only about 1/4 of an inch in length, and are perfect for those fly-aways! |
Hi! Try using a gel to start training the hair. I use Pet Silk Top Knot Gel. If you look around you can find it cheaper but here's the link so you know what it looks like. It's made for dogs and doesn't get crusty like human gels. Pet Silk oz jar&start=1 Put the band/barette closer down towards the eyebrows instead of on their forehead - just untils the hair starts to grow - then you can gradually move the band/barette up further. |
You can use wet cotton (cotton, dip some drinking water) and wipe the side of her eyes regularly, I often do this and I think it helps :) |
