Mine charges $15 :) and he's great! he remembers what we were in there for the last time. Needle disposal fee is only $1, and yes all places must charge for haz mat waste fee. Now only if he would stop recommending Science Diet to me all the time. :rolleyes:

I think Massachusetts, California and New York (where I live) are the highest. My vet charges $68.00 a visit and then tacks everything else on. The Rabies shot is$45.00, Stool check is $35.00 and a heartworm blood test is $56.00 just to name a few. With 5 furbabies the vet can get pretty expensive especially a few of mine have health issues.

My vet doesn't charge for the office visit. He only charges for services, shots, etc. They will trim their nails free at a visit if I ask. Also I can call him at home if I have an emergency. He has been our vet for 10 years.

The local vet we use for emergencies and whatnot charges $35 or $40 for an office visit and charges one every single time. We normally see a holistic vet about 45 min away that does not charge an office visit and has really reasonable prices for heartworm and fecal tests. She's wonderful!

I just took Izzy to the Vet Wed. Out the door was 61.75... Shot, stool sample, Good check over, Black light test for her dry skin (came back good) and that did include 2.99 for throwing away the needle..lol...Oh well..I now have a piece of mine for my little furbaby.. :)

I just took my boy to the vet this morning, so I should know.. :rolleyes: My vet charges $25.

It is $95 just to walk through the door and everything else is added on...

Soph is on Banfield's plan so unlimited free office visits. I think they're regularly $39.

Our vet exams are $48.70 and everything else is extra. Then they refer you to specialists who charge $125 - $150 just for the exam.

There is a clinic in the area that offers shots are a much lower cost and no vet fee, but they only do shots. So if your baby needs a dental you have to go to a vet....hope that makes sense.

It's amazing how much the costs have jumped in the last 10 years. My daughter wants to become a doctor so I keep trying to talk her into becoming a vet :D

I love my vet, but I think they are very expensive . . .but they are only literally 7 minutes away and I trust all of them so I guess paying what I pay is worth it . . .

On Rhianna's last visit in December here is how it broke down:

Examination/Office Visit $60.00
Rabies 3 Year Booster $23.00
Medical Waste Fee $ 4.50
Fecal Exam $28.00
Waste Fee $ 2.00

For a grand total of $140.50

Even though it doesn't show up on the bill as such, I bet mine does charge the haz mat fee for needles and maybe it's just included in the cost of the shot - anyway, does everyone usually get a yearly heartworm test??? I have mine on heartworm medicine once a month and usually ask that the test not be performed since they're on medicine anyway and it's fairly expensive. My vet has gone along with my request, but wondered what others do???

In the past, my vet wouldn't prescribe heartworm meds without a test. For years now, I've given heartworm meds 12 months a year, and purchased them from Australia...they don't require a prescription. All has been well for 3 yorkies. I may get a test for Zoey this summer, since I just got her last March...but that will be it.

My vet charges $35.00 a visit. I have 3 yorkies and I have noticed on the bill if I have to take all 3 in together I get a discount on certain procedures.

Ours require a heartworm test every year before they will give us a new prescription. It's important for us to have them tested regularly anyway considering Oklahoma stays relatively warm year-round and sometimes the mosquitos don't die.
