Teething? What age do dogs teeth? Pixie is almost 23 weeks and lately her right ear is drooping again. I remember someone saying that it will do this when they are teething. Aslo she has been waking up more at night and sleeping more during the day. Can teething make them that uncomfortable? Is there anything that I can do for her when she is going through this to make it easier on her........and me.:D I feel like I have a newborn in my house again, last night every 2 hrs she would wake me up and I would think that she had to pee and I would bring her to her pad and she would look up at me and lay down on the pad. I finally gave up on sleeping at 5 am and I got up and I sat on the chase and she crawled in my lap and fell asleep. I was like there is something wrong with this picture. Does anyone have the same problem or any suggestions? Thanks~Joyce |
My puppy is also about the same age as yours, he is currently 26 weeks. In the last 6 days he lost 3 baby teeth. I got them out of his mouth when I saw that he was trying to chew on something in his mouth. I'm concerned that if I'm not around he could swallow a tooth! You should also try to keep an eye on your puppy's baby teeth, and see if you can collect any. I try to keep an eye on mine as much as I can. His ears are slightly floppier at times, but not too floppy. Maybe it differs from puppy to puppy, but like you, I also did read somewhere that floppy ears during teething are common. I think when their teeth are growing it must be a combination of feeling pain, itch and discomfort, so they like to chew on something as it relieves that discomfort. Bailey usually prefers to chew on Roll Over Chews that are slightly softer and more digestible, but lately he hasn't had much interest in those and instead he keeps on chewing the harder chews, specifically Vet Enzadent Oral Care Chews. These are beefhides, but they are super hard, I picked those up at the vets office (they are super hard and don't soften easily so he can't easily swallow any large pieces of hide) I also noticed today few small stains on his chew and on one of his toys. It is light red in colour, I think it may be a blood stain from when his baby teeth fell out. The baby teeth that came out were hollow inside and had a little bit of blood on them. I am trying to figure out how many more teeth need to come out..... I'm not sure how many teeth he is suppose to loose. Any ideas? Bailey started teething about 2-3 weeks ago, and his teeth came out SO QUICKLY! You can almost watch them grow, they are bigger every morning lol He has a full row of front teeth now and his back teeth got huge very quickly! It took no time! All you can do is watch for baby teeth, and provide some hard surface for her to chew on so she can get a relief on some of the teething discomfort. She'll have all her adult teeth shortly! |
Thanks so much for the information. I have not seen any baby teeth fall out though. I am wondering if she swallowed any? The vet did tell me not to worry about that though bc they will pass them. I would love to find a tooth and save it. I am sure it would be real tiny. |
