Veal...
 
Does anyone feed their baby this? I am thinking about making some vealballs later today. I've made lambballs, and Prince loves them, but i wanted to switch it up a little.

I think if you're comfortable in the way veal is made (meaning, you might want to know before, rather than after :)), then it would be another source for variety...?

I've never used veal :).

I don't cook it now, but did years ago BIK.....before I knew. :(

Sadly this is one of those issues that breaks an animal lovers heart...how these animals are treated for our tastebuds.

Of course many people think I am nuts for only buying eggs from free range chickens but I do not believe animals should suffer to feed us.

I buy free-range too :). The more we buy them, the better prices will get also.

Another product that breaks my heart is liver pate...oh man...:(.

:thumbup: And, with all of the other choices out there it just isn't necessary to even think about feeding veal.

Agreed! We buy organic meat and eggs from free range chicken, as well as grass fed, free range beef whenever possible. We also buy organic dairy products as well. It gets expensive (esp. trying to feed 3 dogs with organic raw meat), but it's well worth the improved quality of life for the animals, as well as the health and environmental benefits for me and our planet.

:(And luxuries, leather furniture,leather coats and boots,etc.:( I try to do my part. I have not had beef pork or chicken for 37 years. I will eat fish.

Wow, I didn't know about the veal situation. I've never had it, nor has Prince, and after reading these posts, he never will.
(I have never had lamb either. I could live on salmon for ever)!

And so so sad! If I had read up on veal before, I would not have ever posted this nor considered it. Thank goodness I had forgotten about it and never bought it. I did the lambballs to give Prince an alternative to poultry, since he's sensitive. My husband laughs at me because I always wear latex gloves when I handle meat...it freaks me out.

Ok. I know all about veal and NEVER eat it for that reason. I, too, pay the exra for 'free range' chicken and eggs.

But I don't know anything about liver pate - which I used to love on crackers.

I'm gathering this is something else I need to give up on principle?

That's all I need to know! No more liver pate for me on crackers! That's disgusting; I can't believe the cruelty.

Unfortunately, free range is far from cruelty free most of the time. It's a step in the right direction, but still very sad. :(

And when talking about veal and liver, there are still so many other farming practices that are probably just as bad...

I am in agreement with the others here. Will never eat veal as it is one of those things inhumanely created.
There comes a point in ones life where responsiblity for other living creatures comes ahead of our desire to eat them.
