Feeding my yorkie My yorkie is 8 months old, she weighs 6lbs. I want to make sure I am feeding her right. I give her 1/4 cup in the morning and 1/4 cup in the evening, is this too much or too little? She acts like she was not fed right after she was fed. :aimeeyork |
This is the amount my Vet told me to give Fancy. She is 6lbs. But she doesn't act like she is hungry afterwards..:aimeeyork:animal-pa |
I would ask your vet.... if she is hungry she is hungry..... that's my opinion. I am a terrible person who free feeds, but my dogs are both healthy and in shape and it makes me feel at ease that when they are hungry they can eat. |
It all depends on what brand you are feeding. What are you feeding? |
That is exactly the amount I feed Winston. That is also what his bag of food says. He always acts hungry - he eats in two seconds then looks at me like "where's my food mom?" I just make sure to supplement with healthy treats like dehydrated chicken or frozen blueberries. Still check with your vet if you are nervous, it's better to be safe then sorry. |

That is exactly what Hailey does, she eats it fast and looks up at the cabinet where I keep it, as if she is asking me to give her some more. I do give her treats but not too much, but the supplement thing sounds like a good idea too. I will definetly check with my vet too. Thanks |
My Yorkie is about 10 lbs and when he was sick recently, vet recommended noodles and lean ground beef - he's well now and is turning his nose up at his regular food! The food I currently have is Merricks Puppy Plate - anyone else use it? |

Cheaper is not always better. If you think about it, a 20$ bag of dog food which would last you a month is not very expensive to feed your dog! Especially if it is a good quality food. ;) The good brands also sell 1lb trial sized bags, they run me about 3.50$ a bag. Depending on how much your baby eats, you could get a few of those for the month. |
