Reggie got neutered today My furbaby got neutered this morning. I just called the vet and he is doing wonderful. He is 6 and a half months and weighs 7.5 pounds. Blood work came back normal, no teeth needed to be pulled and he is resting. Whehhh, now maybe my stomach will settle a little. I am 34 this is my first dog ever and man do I love this little guy. I am not gonna lie he is as much work as my only child was as a baby. Constantly checking where he's at and what he's into. Not being able to go out for lunch during the work week (have to run home to let my baby out for an hour), scheduling shopping around naps and the list goes on and on and on. I might over-do it a tad but like I said it's my first dog and he's more like my new baby. I'm sure I'll be sick to my stomach for the next couple of days until he is all back to normal but I had to post that we got through this major day. I feel like screaming from the roof tops ....... IT WENT WELL :) Thanks for listening. |

I'm 36, recently married & Winston is my first dog. We don't have any kids, so it's actually comforting to hear you say that Reggie is as much work as a baby, because if I can run around like a nut for Winston and still love him like crazy, then I know I'll be alright having a baby. I'm glad everything went well. Put a collar on Reggie so you don't have to worry about him licking stitches. Winston was neutered two weeks ago & is all healed up. He had to wear a collar for a few days afterwards, but he didn't mind it. |
Awww, I TOTALLY understand as Hot Rod is my first dog ever! I am a bit older than 34 but everything else you've said is just about what I am doing. lol These little ones have a way of weaseling themselves into our hearts don't they. lol. Just wanted to let you know that Hot Rod was kinda out of it for about 3 days. He had 14 teeth removed when he was neutered. The vet did not send me home with any pain meds and I should have insisted. I think he was in just a bit of pain. :( In retrospect I would have insisted. Good luck with your little man and hope yor stomach settles down soon. :) Let us know how he is doing. :) |
I think we all understand exactly how you feel.:D I'm so glad he came through it ok and I'm sure he's looking forward to coming back home as much as you are getting him back home! Yes! They are just like toddlers, aren't they? Always into something. But that stage does pass.;) Enjoy it while you can. Of course, you're still going to have to go home at lunch and schedule your other life around him. After all, he's your new baby!:p And I should add that these babies never grow up, either! |
Gunnar was neutered at 6mo, he weighed around 6 pounds then. No teeth needed to be pulled. He amazed me! He came home like nothing had happened to him. I had a heck of a time stopping him from jumping up to and down from the couch! That made me more nervous than the procedure! We also have 1 kid, who just turned 22, that recently moved out. Gunnar is my baby and he's not going anywhere for a long time! :aimeeyork Donna |
I am so glad that Reggie did well with the surgery and he will be home to your loving arms soon! Zoey is my baby, too - and my life does often surround her... I wouldn't have it any other way! Huggs |
I am so happy that Reggie came threw his surgery with flying colors. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Enjoy babing him when he comes home. Yes, they are as much work as human babies but isn't it fun:p At least there's no late night bottle feeding and diaper changing;) |
I just went through this a few months ago with Duke. He didn't have to any dental work done, but I was able to stay with him and wait for him to "wake up" from his procedure so it wouldn't be so hard on his little system waking up. My question is has anyone else noticed if their yorkie has put on weight after having been neutered? Duke has started put on weight quite a bit lately and I was wondering if anyone else had that problem. |
