Poor thing. Thank you for the FYI |
I sure hope Murphy recovers quickly! Thank you for the post - it is a good reminder or notice for many. Zoey's breeder told us that she had a little one choke on one and she no longer gives them to her babies and did not recommend that others give them. Zoey has never had one and we enjoy brushing our teeth here - so no problems :) Huggs to Murphy! |
Omg My dogs don't like greenies & won't even lick them. Our vet gave us greenies in our Christmas bag- I am definitely showing him the CNN reports about greenies. I hope Murphy is doing better.:aimeeyork :animal-pa |
I hope Murphy is feeling better ! Yeah , I heard from some members here that greenies could be dangerous so I never bought them. I was going to at one time ( before I found out about the dangers) but Chloe was to little for even the tiny greenies ( thank God) . I can't believe they are still on the market. |
I never liked those things. I bought them one time for my yorkies but they always bit off to bigger piece and i was afraid they would get choked. One of my yorkies would even vomit after eating them so i never did buy them anymore and im so glad i didnt. Thanks for the info! |
I have heard you shouldn't give your dog greenies... |
Feel better Murphy. As for Greenies i thought i read that before, glad i never used but thanks for the heads up. |

I agree! I heard bad news about them and I also saw them at Petco while browsing around and thought the same thing. OP...I hope your baby feels better soon! |
Greenies and Rawhide are bad news. Hope your pup feels better soon! |
yeah, there are lots of warnings on here about greenies. I have fed them to my boys, and I never had any issues (thank goodness), but I have stopped feeding them. With it being such a common thing on here, I figured better safe than sorry. Those things are too expensive, anyways. I know the same cautions are out there about rawhides, but we give the boys those little twisty rawhide stick things...hope that makes sense, haha :) |

Aww poor baby, I just email couple of my friends so they can see this, I remember when Phoebe (my first yorkie) got them for her she broke a piece off:eek: I didn't like that, so I never give her back one, but she also didn't care for them much, thank you so much for sharing this with us. Hugs:animal-pa |
I know this thread is a few months old but I feel it should be resurrected. I just came home from the vet (having nothing to do with Greenies). It seems that Cooper has a high fever and throat infection. My vet told me a story of how only a few weeks ago her 10 pound Shi Tzu choked on a Greenies treat. It seems that the treats break in 1/2 pretty easily and her dog swallowed one entire 1/2 without chewing it. she couldn't reach it in the back of her dogs mouth. 1/2 the treat was the exact size of the dogs throat so it blocked all air. She was able to finally hit the dog on the back and remove the treat. Be careful. |

I don't understand why these things are still being sold:mad: |
I never heard about this before. I'm so happy my vet shared this story. |
