Bailey yelping in pain, please read. I don't know how to explain this, but in the last 36 hours, Bailey will yelp for what seems like no reason. He did it a couple of times when I picked him up, and a couple of times when he was just lying on the bed. I don't understand it. I took him over to my bf's today to play with his 2 dogs, and he was running around playing, as normal as can be. When I went to pick him up to put on his coat, he yelped like he was in pain. The vet said I need to call back Monday to make an appt becasue there are no openings and it isn't an emergency. I wrote about the vet situation in my area before, it's pathetic. Only one clinic and that clinic has gone through 4 vets since I brought Bailey home last June. I think it is difficult for people who live in larger areas to understand what it is like to live in an isolated area with limited options. The next vet is an 8 hour drive away, it sucks. I always worry that something terrible will happen to Bailey. Does anyone know why he would just yelp like that? I checked his legs and his belly, he didn't flinch or cry. I don't know what to think, I'm reading all the past posts on the forum and can't find anything similar:( |
Does Bailey have his dew claws, Maybe he hurt one of his nails or a dew claw, I know this can be very painful? Is he eating , throwing up , diareaha? |
No they were removed before I got him. He isn't throwing up, no diarrhea, he is eating and drinking. His poop is a little dark and hard, I'm wondering if he is constipated, but I can't see that making him yelp! |

try prodding his stomach gently and see if you can find where the pain is coming from. When you pick him up you are putting your hand around his belly area so that sounds like where the pain is coming from. Just try and avoid that area if you can until you can get him to the vet. Is he eating normal? Obviously he feels ok enough to play which is great. |
did they eat anything like chew sticks or anything like that? If any vomitting I would get him in and have xray for blockage though - that is such a bummer no close vets or er :( |
He is eating and drinking. His stomach isn't bloated or hard, I moved his legs around and also pressed on areas and nothing. I can't see anything. I am going to give him a little pumpkin, I'm not sure he will eat it though, because he didn't like it when he was a puppy. I may have to mix it with cottage cheese. Right now he is napping, I'm going to leave him alone and not pick him up for awhile. If it continues the vet will have to see me! I don't even think Xrays are done here, I'm not 100%, I know that when blood is drawn or a fecal sample taken, it is sent out to a lab in another province. I pray everyday that nothing serious happens to my Bailey. |

Hi Darlene, I would say as long as he is walking around and eating and drinking. Pooing and peeing. I would say his little muscles must be sore or he could be bruised from rough play. I am sure he will be fine until Monday. It must be awful for you when you can't get to a vet when you need one. I would go insane bc Daisy comming from a puppy mill has always had an attack during the holidays or in the middle of the night. I always pay an 80 dollar fee just to walk in the door bc it is always an emergency room appointment. The Vet use to say to me I will see you next holiday! lol Back to Bailey, I think he just gave himself a sprang or pulled muscle. I will say a lil prayer for him. Give him a lil kiss for me and I hope he is feeling better soon! |
