Is ok to get the prescription only at vet? without purchacing the medicine there? I just found out for the extracly same stuff, it was 3 times of the price on line at the vet...:( |

Ask if your vet will price match. I know the vet I use will on heart meds and I think flea meds. I took in a printed ad from a website and they matched it and believe me I spent a lot of time looking for the cheapest price. |

I have heard that some of those online places sell outdated items, so do be careful. That is a shame your vet charges so much. Mine keeps her prices low because she discourages shopping online. I wish they all would do that. They don't need to make money on those items! |

My vet also charges more but by the time I figured in the shipping, he wasn't charging that much more. And I have also heard that the online stores sometimes sell outdated products. It's sad they charge more but I can usually wait til I really need it then drop by and purchase it. |
It's okay to get them online as long as the site is trustworthy. Most of Ellie's stuff comes from entirelypets and allivet. It's expensive to run a practice and I think it's okay that they do charge a lot for some things, but I also thinks it's fine to ask for an rx and buy it somwhere else. ;) |
I always get Rio's meds from her vet. Last I checked, price was comparable to online. |
Flea Medicine Online My groomer told me that the frontline was made out of this country where they do not regulate it. She told me to buy it from my vet. I emailed and asked PetMeds about this but they never responded. Joyce |
I was leary to call our new vet, knowing he did not use the heartworm, HeartGuard, that I used. I had no problem. Thank heavens. |

Sure you can do that. The last time I took one of my dogs to the vet (3 weeks ago), he actually had a chalkboard in his waiting room giving the websites with the best prices where you could actually get heartworm / flea preventative meds. |
Archie, that's true...you have to know. I had a situation when I tried to get Revolution from Prince's vet, but he didn't carry it. Apparently because of the expense, it wasn't as popular as some of the others. (Topical works better for Prince). Our vet called several other vets to see who carried it. We found one about 10 miles from me, my vet faxed the prescription and I picked it up. |

I talked to my vet in depth about buying prescriptions online. He told me the same thing that several others have said about the manufacturer not standing behind products bought online. Part of the problem is the online stores purchase from the cheapest sources they can find & some of their sources are just out for a buck. Even the well known online stores have had a problem at some point. How horrible would it be to find your precious pet fell ill because you wanted to save a buck as well? I agree, it's just not worth the risk to me. Good luck to all who do purchase online & I pray you continue to get good meds. |

The reason why I took Duncan in last time it was bcoz he was scratching badly. Now I'm even not sure if it was actually becoz he's always having fleas instead of some kinda of skin allergy according to wat the vet said. I do ask a ton of questions about each item. The prices are much lower compared to vets in my area and a vet friend of mine is the one who introduced me. Anyways, if you are concerned about it you should not do it because if something goes wrong you will also be blaming yourself. I dont like to use some heartworm medications that are common here in US anyways, Revolution is so so ... Interceptor i use when i do not have the other option and test 2 times a year instead of just one, do not give it on winter months... I learned some things different and i am always learning but some things i like my ways. I do not like to overload them with meds that are not necessary. XOXO |
