Does anyone know if hair can irritate a sensitive stomach? My yorkie has a sensitive stomach. The vet has checked her out and says it's a sensitive stomach. She's on I/d and she still gets the mucosy (sometimes bloody) stool every once in a while. And, she scratches and gnaws at her paws all the time (no fleas). I find little hairballs on the floor or around her everyday. Sometimes I've seen hair in her stool so it just dawned on me could the hair be causing the her stomach irritation? Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks Anne |
I don't know whether the hair can irritate the stomach. I was interested more in what's causing her itching. How old is she? Is she on the I/D because of her sensitive tummy? Have you had a definite diagnosis of why her tummy gets upset (colitis, pancreatitis, etc.)? |
no this would not be causing it |
have your vet do the diahrea comprehensive panel from idexx lab - I bet bacteria is an issue- have you started her on probiotics as that is very important in a dog having digestive issues and yorkies are prone to digestive issues. also a limited ingredient food is important for dogs having digestive issues |
