Hair question Daisy is 9 months old and the hair on top of her head is getting shorter and thinner. She has only had her hair a a few times so it isn't due to bands. Could it just be that the baby hair is gone and that is her grown up hair coming in? The hair on her body is starting to change color, not sure yet but she might be a blondie. |
That could be it..that she is getting her adult coat. |

My Fiona has had the same problem. She is 8 months old and I thought it was her bands but now it has started down her neck. She isn't changing color on her body but her hair seems to have broken off in places. She does have dry skin right now. Does your pup scratch alot? or have dry skin? I have changed Fiona's diet and used better products on her hair but it is too soon to tell. I would like to find a good answer to this question also! :) Fiona also came from KY. |

Usually a thin coat has always produced a silky coat yorkie for me. But I do have one male I had to keep because they were not selling in the summer and his hair is not good. Thin wirey and he is a big boy, like 8lbs so I think I do not have a scale for big ones. His top of his head is good but the lower half is not. So I do feed them all natural food and chicken so I am hoping his hair comes in beautiful. Only time will tell.:animal36 Oh yes and Louie is 9 months also. |
Not to worry too much! Sugar almost bald when she was 4 months old, but hair will grow back, it just takes time :) But I bought her some supplement like cod liver oil...maybe it helps a little too? |
Where in WV does you sister live? I am close to Charleston. Fiona was a sort of fluffy puppy and I expected her hair to thin down some but not quite this much. You are probably right about the baby hair. It was like her long hair sort of dissappeared over a short period of time and the lighter shorter hair was there. She does look bald too though. I think we have more of a problem then you do with the hair breaking. Yours will probably turn out to be beautiful! She is just going through one of those many yorkie coat changes.:) |
Since we are talking about coats..... I'm wondering if I should cut Zoeys hair before letting it grow out. Zoey is almost 4 months old, and Fluffy like you wouldnt believe. I cant keep her hair untangled and its starting to change on top and through out the face. It had that blue color look to it.If i should cut it how long should I wait to make sure all the puppy hair has grown? |

well I keep her bathed. Once a week right now as shes a puppy and likes to get dirty hahaha. She gets groomed regularly i just cant keep the knots out. Its all on her chest and and under her paw pitts....no sure what you wanna call it hahah. but right under where her legs begin. I've tried different conditioners and different combs and still nothing seems to be working. Its just started doing this within the last couple weeks |

All my yorkies came from Texas and because of this I thought their fur was so thin because of the heat. However I've noticed that when I changed their food to Buffalo Blue their fur began to grow and it is now lush and thick. I've noticed this with my 2 smallest yorkies who had very thin fur. Now there is a huge difference. They don't have dry skin either. I believe its all in the food you feed your pet. |
