Dental Vacine has anyone heard of this and have had it given to your baby? My vet says it helps keep their teeth in good shape. Full name of vacine is Porphyromonas Vacine. Thanks!! |
I looked into this also and it looks to be a garbage vaccine....this vaccine doesn't really accomplish much because a person still has to do regular teeth care at home and regular vet cleanings ......... This vaccine also has formaldehyde in it which is highly toxic and a cancer hazard..... These people have had terrible problems with it..... We Just Had Our Yorkie Vaccinated With The Porphyromonas Vaccine For... - Blurtit .....Personally I would pass on this.....Just not worth it..... |
I wouldn't give anything that is new on the market to my furbaby or my human daughter. I'm just skeptical though. |

When the vaccine first was introduced, I asked my vet about it. His response was the data is too new to really evaluate it and he wouldn't recommend it. |
Thanks, that what I thought but wasn't sure! I had never heard of it and wanted to check here before getting it for my babies!! Thanks!!! |

I had a vet recommend that shot, and talked w/a vet tech I know and trust...She said it was one of the most painful shots you could give a dog, and that they still need to have their dental done regularly...I stopped going to that vet after hearing that news...I now go to a vet that doesn't recommend it... |
My Vet NO longer carries that shot...they said it was too painful for the dogs... not only when given but also that the injection site remained painful for some dogs... |
I've never heard of that shot. What was it suppose to do? We just had Mia in for her cleaning and after talking with our new vet we decided to have her use a gel sealant on her after the cleaning and then we'll put it on every week afterwards. She said there wasn't anything better than brushing - even if you don't use toothpaste. (although she does recommend it) The actual brushing is the only thing that will really keep the tarter off. She also said that we might not have to have her clean her teeth every year - that she will examine them on a yearly basis and decide at that time. I like that because it was harder on Mia having her teeth cleaned than it was for her spay. |

My vet does not recommend it either. |

It's supposed to control/eliminate the bacteria in the mouth that causes dental disease. |
Thank you all so much for the responses. I am so glad that I have YT to come to check these things out before hand. I will not get the vaccine for any of my babies. And will tell others about this too. Again thank you all!!! |
I thought about getting it for Sophie, but never got around to it. After reading this thread, I'm glad I didn't. Not sure if my vet still gives it anymore or not. They mentioned it from I took her in right after I got her and finished up her puppy shots, but she's been in for her annual checkup/shots and they didn't mention it. Makes me wonder if my vet has now decided they don't like it either. |
No dental vaccine it has only been around for few years and we saw two dentists for consults and one does it and admitted to me she gave the vaccine in a big dog leg and the leg went limp - we do not get it as humans and they have the same teeth and gums as us so the only thing is brushing daily to prevent gum disease |
