Small red bump inbetween toes 2 Attachment(s) Uni keeps licking her back right foot. Upon closer inspection she has a small light red bump between her outer pad and 2nd pad. I wonder what it is. I don't think she could have stepped on something b/c it is way up in there. She won't quit licking it. The past few days she has been on a paw licking binge (front ones too), diet has not changed, and she had a few bouts of soft poop borderline diahrrea. She seems to be better with the poop now, but hasn't gone poop since yesterday. Maybe something bit her? what do you guys think? Should I take her to the vet? bf says its nothing though. The flash kind of flushes out the redness. it's redder in person. |
Hi there: I thought maybe your sweetie could have stepped on some red ants and got bit. I bring this up b/c it happened to mine when we were on the interstate after filling up at a gas station. Grass was wet with dew and a little tall and I just walked my baby thru it not even thinking about red ant hills. It was dark out so I never saw them. But he went BONKERS so we pulled the car over and washed his foot off with Ice Cold Water that we had frozen in a cooler. It worked. When I got to my relatives house we put some antibiotic cream on it. You can also put a sock over the foot to keep pet from chewing at it or let him wear an e-collar. Hope this helps. |
How many times did he get bit? She just has the one bump. |
I think he was bit 3 times, he never even yelled, but it was on the same leg. But it drove him crazy. Hope your baby is feeling a little better now. I hear Benedryl (sp?) is good for itches and stings. |
Thank you. She is sound asleep right now. I'm gonna put a little nylon stocking sock thingy on her foot. heh heh |
It could be a yeast infection of some kind. My daughters dog would get red bumps inbetween his toes and around his face and it was a yeast infection. Have your vet take a look. |
How do they get yeast infections? There is only one bump that I have noticed. |
I am not sure but the vet did say that she had to stop using plastic bowls and to clean out the dog bowl every day with hot soap and water. Also he said to make sure the dogs toes were dried off if they got wet from going outside. As for the dog bowls we use glass, because my dog Daisy would never drink or eat out of plastic. |
Hmmmm we usually use ceramic, but we HAVE been using a little plastic dish at work lately, and *guilty* have not been washing it out after everytime. Thanks for that. I'll bring a ceramic dish to work from now on. If it doesn't clear up by Mon I'll bring her to the vet. Thanks guys! :) |
Princess got diagnosed w/bacteria/yeast infection. Our vet prescribed a special shampoo. She used to lick her paws until it was red & raw like Uni's. He said they get it from being on the grass outside, it might have some kind of chemicals on it & they just pick up bacteria/yeast from walking out doors bare paw. I've noticed she licks her paws like cwazzie whenever we go out for walks. When we don't, she doesn't lick 'em at all. Poor thing, I can't even take her outside...she loves frolicking on the grass. |
