What age did you have your yorkie nuetered? Wondering what age is best to have MichaelAngelo fixed? How old were yours when you took them? :aimeeyork |
I just got my Remy done last week at 5mos, and he recovered quickly. |
Franklin was either 5 or 6 months when we got him neutered. |
Vet said he had to be 6 months, so thats when I did it. |
Hot was 6 1/2 mos, just under 3 lbs. |
If you can - it's best to take him in after he has lost his baby teeth or all his adult teeth have come in. That way they can take out any remaining baby teeth at the same time as the neutering. Max was about 7 months old. |
The vet said 5 months. So we had it done at 5 1/2 months, and he's still losing teeth... but we wanted to get him done ASAP as we're going on our honeymoon finally, and we'd like him to be a little calmer before going to grandma's for a sleepover for the first time :D He got neutered a few days ago and he's recovering quickly. The first night was rough though, and he was really sick... anesthesia was wearing off. Don't think he liked that |
7 months |
Zeke was around 1 yo, Zack about 2 yo and recently Zoey who was around 5 yo. Keep in mind that all three are rescue babies and were not neutered or spayed until just before we adopted them. It was part of the adoption process by the Yorkie Rescue group we $upport and volunteer with. They all recovered quickly but had to be kept still, difficult to do at the best, for a few days until the stitches dissolved. |
Woody did not get nutured yet, i think it will be more traumatic for me than for him. we have NEVER spent a night apart!! |
Gizmo just got fixed this friday and he was feeling back to his normal self yesterday and alot more today! Lol. We also had Hershey done and he is almost back to normal...a lil slow but his was a lil more intense...Gizmo was crytorchid with both testicles...which means they were retained...but they were able to get them out just fine. Hershey had one that was cryptorchid and one that was not...well the one that was retained was all the way over to his side and up near his back so his surgery involved some finding and not sure a better way to put it but involved some "digging" as well. So he was alot more sore than gizmo but he is recovering well! Oh yea....Gizmo was/is exactly 10 months (we waited that long b/c we kept waiting to see if they would drop..if not in the sack then at least to where they could feel them but they never did so we went ahead with it to avoid any possible problems) and Hershey was/is about 5 1/2 months |

So I wouldnt think your baby would have to spend the night unless thats just your vets procedures. |
one vet told me that Woody would have to stay overnight, and if he did not stay overnight, it would be a special procedure and circumstance. maybe it's time to check for a second opinion. i have seen 3 different vets, and only 1 was really good. |
When I inquired about Meg's spay at the vet, they told me she had to stay overnight in order to have blood work processed. Basically, they were going to draw blood on teh first day, run the tests, then do surgery the next day. When I told them that I wanted to have a full blood panel done, they said that I should actually come in with her one week ahead of time for the blood work. Then I would drop her off in teh morning and pick her up in teh afternoon, so she wouldn't have to stay overnight. Maybe you can ask your vet about doing something similar? |
