What do you feed- which category? Just out of curiosity, based on Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble, what category of dog food do you feed? |
I use a rotation of kibble with Sasha, all of which are either a 5 or 6* rated foods. |
Based on that review site, which seems to favor non-grain foods over grain foods, my food is a category 4. However, we feed Merrick and I've seen it rated higher in other review sources. My dogs love it and I like when they have chicken pot pie smell on their faces. It reminds me of my own grammie. |
OK finally finished the poll, so you can now vote. :) Multiple choice enabled for rotation feeders. I feed a rotation of primarily grain-free, 5* & 6* foods. |
wellness My choice is puppy 5 by wellness. it works like a charm and brings optiminum results.:aimeeyork:animal36 |
It won't let me vote it says "you cannot vote on this poll". So I guess I'll just tell ya what I feed is the potato and duck 'small bites' by Dick Van Pattens "Natural Balance" it has a 106 score which is an A+ on the grading chart on this forum. But on the dogfoodanalysis.com website it has a 4 star rating. |

It wouldn't let me vote either, although I did post a reply before you put the poll up. |
Feed the "Kids" Merrick wet foods and limited NB kibble, potato duck small bite, grain free or ones w/o fish/salmon meals. |
Fromm's Surf and Turf Although it is grain free, it gets a 5 on the dog food analysis scale. I was feeding Orijen, but it was too high in protien for my pups and upset their stomach. They LOVE the Surf and Turf way more than they ever liked the Orijen and it is in tiny kibble so it is easier for them to eat. |
Acana Prairie and Grasslands alllllll the way! 5 stars is it's rating. We used to feed Evo, but Snick got sick of it! Go figure! He eats like I've never seen before...Acana will be with us until Snick decides he is bored with it. I feed a rotation diet- raw (Primal) in the Am and Acana for the rest of the day. When I feed poultry raw, I use Prairie Acana (chicken based) and when I feed red meat raw-I use Grasslands Acana (Lamb based.) I feel SO GOOD about what I'm feeing Snick. Champion foods (makers of Acana/Orijen) was awarded dog food of the year this year with their Orijen. That's awesome!!!!! I think I have a slight obsession with dog food....oh well!!;) LOL!!! I had no idea that there were so many different dog foods out there. I feed Royal Canin #28 and for the pregnant/nursing moms and the puppies the Royal Canin #33 |
i also feed royal canin #28 and magic has done fine on it and also likes it:aimeeyork |

We feed the same food. |
I was feeding the Orijen based on the dog food analysis web page and because it is made in Canada. But switched to a homemade low protein diet 2 days ago due to elevated liver enzymes in my little guy (16 months 3lbs 10 oz). |
Not Enough Input to be Accurate! The poll that is shown only has 14 responders. That's not enough to get any kind of percentages. All results are skewered because one or two can make all the difference in the world. We used to study results of fitness tests all the time where I worked, and that is what we found to be the case. You need at least 50-100 before you can get any kind of meaningful percentages. |
It said that I couldnt vote?? Anyhoot, I feed 5 or 6 stars.. only the best for my babies!! |

merrick 5 stars |
I cant vote but I feed FROMM which is 5 stars |
Wellness for us :) |
I feed Polo Acana Pacifica, Acana Grasslands, and Orijen:D he loves it and gobbles it down every time plus his coat looks fantastic on this food it looks like silk shiny and super soft:thumbup: |
I feed a rotation of 5 Star kibble. We are currently feeding Innova and Wellness. I've also fed Timberwolf Organics and Artemis. Also 5 Stars. |
Feeding Nature's Variety Prairie Lamb and Oatmeal right now. Love Acana as well. |
Thanks everybody! |
It won't let me vote, either, but I feed Wellness Core (6*) and Wellness Super5 Small Breed (5*). I mix them together and Meg loves them both. |
A couple of days ago it said that I couldn't vote, but now I'm a donating member and it let me vote. I think that is what seems to be the problem for some of you. I primarily feed raw, but Jimi gets NV Instinct kibble as well. :) |
Dog Food Analysis grades the food according to the highest protein. I feed Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Venison which has 20% crude protein. I used to feed Evo Red Meats which has a high protein of 42%. Just because a food has lower protein doesn't mean it's a lower quality food. I chose (well, it's more like they chose:))to go w/NB because it's grain free & has lower protein. As some have stated, some Yorkies do not do well on a high protein diet. |

Artemis=5 stars=23% crude protein Acana Small Breed=4 stars=33% crude protein In this case, Artemis having better ingredients w/ less protein has a higher rating than Acana which has more protein. I love the way DFA knit picks all the ingredients and lets us know if there is enough meat in the food we feed, and for hidden fillers disguised by other names. Again, this is just my opinion but based on the statement above, it's not always true. But in the end, it's all up to what works for your pup and what you feel confident in feeding. I also only feed grainfree and Acana Grasslands (5 stars-33% protein) works great for US:). Holiday Hugs- Snick & Viv |
