Faith choked on her dog food! OMGosh...what a scare! Faith was eating her supper tonight and I watch her as she eats, so the other dogs don't get her food. All of a sudden, Faith started choking! I picked her up and couldn't remember the heimlich for dogs, so I put her upside down and patted her back. That didn't help. I yelled for my hubby and all he did was say, "She'll be fine...she'll get it up on her own." I said she wasn't getting it up. I ran into the computer room with her and thank the Lord, I was able to get to YT quickly and the Heimlich instructions. I did as it said to do, and it worked! Thank you YT! OMGosh...I could have lost her. Her little body was shaking so bad from her head to her butt and she was making these horrid sounds, not able to breath. I was very stupid not to have printed the Heimlich info, and since this happened, I printed it and have it hanging right here off my bulletin board. I urge all of you do to the same, if you haven't already. It worked out getting to YT quickly and able to find what I was looking for quickly, but there are times my computer is very sluggish. I believe it was help from above. THANK YOU YT! You helped me save my baby's life! She seems very tired out since this incident and I think her poor little throat is sore, as when she swallows, she kind of lunges her head forward, like it hurts. I'm so thankful she is still with me! Oh gosh...what a scare! |
I'm so happy to hear that Faith is ok and that you went with your instinct - sometimes hubbies just don't worry like we do! Thanks for the reminder, too! |
Omg, that is so scarey! Good for you acting quickly. I am going to print those instructions now. |
Oh Connie I am so glad little Faith is ok. What a scare. |

Sometimes I worry too how fast they eat. I had a breeder tell me once he lost his female because her kibble pieces were too big and she choked. :( I don't have a printer, I better write it out. |
I am glad you are all printing that important info out. Faith has been wiped out ever since the choking. She got up once to play with Libby, but quickly curled back up and went to sleep. I did give her some nutrical just in case she needed some. Faith doesn't eat fast...she takes one piece at a time and chews it up. She is a very slow eater and I always have to watch her eat, to be sure Maddie and Libby don't steal her food. I do think I will start chopping up her food a bit. They are small pieces, but I think I'll make them smaller. I always have food in her playpen, where she sleeps at night, or stays if I have to leave. I think I shall stop with that and just see that she gets extra before bedtime. If I hadn't been here when this choking happened, she'd be gone. I can't imagine life without her! |
Soooo glad you thought fast on your feet and precious Faith is okay :) I had made a mental note to print it out but had not done it yet. Just printed!! Thanks so much for reminding us! |
Wow how scary! Glad to hear it all ended well. I'm going to check out that info now! |
Very scary! I'm glad Faith is alright. Thank heavens you stayed calm enough to go online and pull it up. Here's the link. It's a good idea to download it and keep it in our first aid kits. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-maneuver.html |
