Smelly ears..... My yorkie's ears smell so much worse than her body. I have ear cleaner that I use when I bath her but they still tend to smell worse than any other part of her body. Is there anything I can use or do to fix this?! |
How old is she? Do you pluck the hair out of her ears? She could have ear mites. If it smells really bad - I would take her to the vet. If it's an infection she'll need an antibiotic to clear it up. :) |

are you drying her ears and plucking the hairs out? i know my girl's stink when the ears are unplucked. If those care items are being done--head to the vet |
smelly ears When I found out that Belle had smelly ears we went right to the vet. They said that was the first sign of infection and you have to have antibiotics to get rid of it. If they don't smell and they scratch alot or shake their heads, it could be ear mites. You can get stuff from the vet or at a pet shop. I used the stuff from the pet store on my Schnauzer and it worked fine. don't wait, infections can get really bad. |

Totally agree - your vet can do a quick swab and look under scope. An ear ointment can be given that covers *both* yeast and bacteria for 10 days, if that's what the vet sees. I would go to the vet asap. |
go to the vet pann had the same smelly problem an it was a yeast infection. good luck! |
I would go to the vet. One of my Yorkies came to me with smelly ears (smelled like an old sponge to be exact) and it was a combination of ear mites, yeast and an infection, yuck! The antibiotic and anti-yeast meds cleared it up. |
I'm sorry it took so long to reply back.... boo me!:thumbdown Thank you all for the advice. I'm def. going to get her to the Vet in the next couple of days to see what's going on! At first I thought it was just the type of cleaner.. but now I know it could be much worse!! Thanks again :):) |
