Amount of Food Advice (Again  Probably been asked but everything is about really young pups. I have a 7 month old yorkie (actually morkie (3/4 yorkie 1/4 maltese) that is 2.7 lbs. I feed her 1 cup of Natures Variety kibble per day. Periodically I feed her Natures Variety Raw a little less than 2 medallions. So sticking to the 1 cup of kibble 1/3 3x per day is that enough? Is that too much? Its tough to follow the bag which indicates a 5 lb. dog as the minimum. I don't think thats a good basis. Let me add for two of those feedings she shares food with a 15 lb. poodle/yorkie. She holds her own in getting what she wants but I don't know if I should separate them for now. Thanks for any input you may have!:animal36 |

Feeding Guide | Nature's Variety I would suggest you take a look at that. When you mention that she shares, are you talking just the same meal time or from the same bowl? Personally, if you aren't already I would give different bowls a shot. It will help you get a better idea of how much everyone is actually eating. If you have food left over after both dogs eat I wouldn't worry about it - but if you've got two eating out of the same bowl and its empty I would be slightly concerned about one dog getting more then the other. Have you talked to your vet about their weight or your food concerns at all? (If you have and they're both at a healthy weight I wouldn't worry about it too much.) |
