Click here if your Yorkie has Liver Shunts, Please Muffy has been diagnosed with Liver Shunts. She had went in to the vet to get fixed, but they were unable to proceed because of this. She was put on medicine and went back in another month. Sadly it had not been fixed :( Please tell me how this has affected your yorkie's life. I'm really worried for Muffy. |
Liver shunt I am sorry to hear about your pup... a year ago this month, my yorkie Ruby was also diagnosed with a liver shunt. After many vets telling me there was nothing they could do for her, I took her to Texas A&M College of Vet. Medicine. They are amazing- they were able to perform surgery on her successfully. While it was expensive, it was the best money I have ever spent. For a few months after the surgery she was on a lot of medications, but now, a year later we are on zero meds and just on prescription LD diet. I have a healthy, happy yorkie. I suggest to you, if you are able, to take your dog to Texas A&M or U of Tennessee... don;t give up hope! Please contact me if you want to talk or have questions- I know how scary it is! |
Buster was diagnosed today with liver shunt. We will be going to Texas A&M on Monday. It seems in the last couple of days he has gotten pretty sick. I'm not sure what to expect at A&M but I have heard good things. |
If you are down south and can make the trip, I would go to the U of Tenn Vet School for LS surgery, as they are the leaders in this. LS is not a death sentence. If possible surgery is recommended and the outcome is pretty good! |
My dog does not have this problem but just want to wish all the best for all the little dogs on here that do.:( |
