My baby doesn't like dry food only. Hi: I got my baby 3 weeks ago almost a month and since then she's been eating Science Diet because a friend of mine gave me some samples. She never like it the only way she eat it was mixing the dry food with some wet. Now the food it's finished and I decided to buy Beneful dry only because I can't afford expensive foods that anyway she didn't like it. And she doesn't eat it either. I don't know what to do. Is that ok to mix the dry food with wet? Thanks  |
It is fine to mix with wet. Mine have moist food every morning |

Beneful is not a good food. Actually is a horrible food for any dog. There is nothing nutritionally decent in it at all. Personally I think it's the #1 worst dog food on the market. I read an article about it and it said it's not even considered a food fit for anything. There are many other, not so expensive kibble on the market. Since Yorkies are so small they don't eat much and a 5lb bag will last at least a month. So if you paid $10.00 a month for a bag of food that's should work for you. Kibble can be mixed with wet food. Buy chicken breasts when they are on sale and boil them and freeze them. Cut tiny pieces up and add to the kibble even frozen veggies are another thing to add. Of course cook them in the mico wave first. You can add also some brown or white rice too and small amounts of chicken broth for added flavor. Lot's of healthy things to add to kibble. But it is important to feed a high quality food to your Yorkie. Check out Natural Balance, Wellness, and other decent kibble for you pet. THese products run about 10.99 to 12.99 a 5lb bag. That's not much for a Yorkie for a month. I hope you will reconsider about the food your feeding. It will keep you baby healthier and happy and less vet bills, hopefully. |
I agree with Carol (Archie) - Beneful is a horrible food. Please do a little research and find a good quality food for your baby. You'll actually save money by feeding a better food because the cheap foods are nothing but filler so you have to feed more of it to keep the pup full. Also, you'll probably spend much less on vet bills over the years if you feed a healthy diet. |
Yes ... mixing the dry with the wet food is fine Get ready for some battles with your pup Yorkies can be very picky about what they like and what they don't Sometimes you'll have a mix that they love and all of a sudden .......... Nope Not havin' nothing to it and they'll stick their noses up and not eat |
I mix it this afternoon and she eat but no a lot. She look for the ingredients of the wet food. |
I definitely would recommend finding a healthier food for your dog, my baby loves Wellness, and it's not too expensive. Another thing to consider is what you put the food in though. When I first got Boo he wouldn't touch his food and someone suggested changing his bowl...after a few attempts I discovered that he prefers eating off a plate. Once I stated putting his meals on a plate he would eat pretty much anything I put on it. Good luck! |
Yuck On the Science diet. We fed our GSD SD and he smelled really bad. I will not feed them that again. You can go on dog food websites and get coupons to save money. I also print off coupons from Petco & Petsmart for additional savings. We paid about $9.00 for $45.00 worth of dog food last month using these coupons! If you do not pay for good food you pay for High Vet bills and a broken heart..... |
This is one of the most interesting things I found, I have to give props for to Soggy Paws for putting this diagram together. It really helps you understand that feeding a good quality food is very important. http://soggypaws.com/Documents/youcandobetter.pdf There's some little secrets out there and there's always a way to save a little money. There's a few manufacturers that have Frequent Flyer Programs (Orijen, Acana, Canidae, Natural Balance, Fromm, etc) Another good article to read is.. From what I have noticed in the pet stores...SD is more expensive than MANY of the better quality foods you can feed your dog. Natural Balance ($is not expensive (in my opinion) nor is Taste of the Wild. Note: They are the about the same price as Beneful but much better quality. Maybe you could try one of these foods? They would be much healthier and your pup might not need the soft food then. :) |
My dogs eat Merrick canned but sometimes I use kibble as well. The Merrick "Grammy's Pot Pie" kibble makes a gravy when you mix it with water. I agree to get your baby off of Beneful - you'll save money in the long run feeding a higher quality food. |
Recommendations Hi Everyone, I just adopted the most wonderful 6 pound Yorkie girl who is 11 months old. She was being fed Science Diet little bites, is that a good food? Also what treats can you get a Yorkie. I had a Yorkie for 15 years, I just lost him in August. Sammy was a big Yorkie at 14 pounds, so Bella is a new experience. Do the little ones sleep a lot? How much do they eat a day? I have an appointment with my vet as I tend to be a worry wart and just want to have her checked out. She's a pistol though. She's 6 pounds of wild energy! Thanks ahead of time for any ideas. Chris and Bella and Sam in spirit. |
