Dental Dog Food... Hi! Just took my Nikki in for a teeth check up...she turn out to still have a baby tooth!!! Anyhow they gave me a bag of dental dog food. Has anyone out there tried anything like that?:D |
Name please of the dog food. |
No but I'd be interested to know more about it. |
Science Diet T/D? It can reduce tartar by up to 39%, but the ingredients may be a problem for some people. I wouldn't use it unless my dog was having extreme dental problems without another way to fix it. Dental diets are kind of cool though. :) |
We feed a great dental diet -- raw! :D Chewing on raw meaty bones acts as a natural toothbrush and raw fed pets have shiny, white teeth and fresh breath. Check it out! |
Just curious, why did the vet think that your dog needed a "Dental" dog food? Based on the comment about a baby tooth, it sounds like you have young dog. Does your pup have unusual dental issues that would require a specialized diet? Call me a bit of a skeptic but it seems curious as to why a vet would want your dog on a prescription diet at this stage. Those Hills foods are only available from vets so there could be a profit motive. I am not a medical expert but it just sounds a bit interesting to me. |
Hey! Can't find the bag the food came in....but to answer some of your questions...Nikki is 1 1/2 old. So one of her baby teeth needed to be remove because it didn't fall out on it's own. I took her in because of her bad breath and tarter i saw on her teeth. The vets told me that they keep all thier dogs and cats on this food. Once I find out that it is I will let you all know. It's in a white bag with tourquise writing on it.....they threw in a smll bag in free!!!!! |
