I have changed shampoos from baby shampoo, to anti-itch to oatmeal. I have also given her fatty acid pills in case it was dry skin. Nothing works! |
I agreed it can be allergies. I found the attached links regarding allergies and loss of hair. I hope is useful. http://www.labbies.com/foodreactions.htm http://www.labbies.com/atopy.htm http://www.personalmd.com/news/n0808124012.shtml |
Sorry Im no help here. Id say it would be allergies or the food or shampoo.I hope you find out whats causing it. |

There is something called hot spots.. not sure if yorkies get them too but my Pekingese gets them and looses hair in spots. And bites and itches at those spots... It just reminded me of that.... Good luck.. Hope you can figure out what is wrong.. Poor lil puppy.. |

My garrett was the same until the vet told me to use only Maselba shampoo, it is expensive, can be bought on line, but his little bald patches are finally gone. I bathe him once a week in this stuff, lather it up, let it sit on him for about fifteen minutes and then thoroughly rinse, and I mean thoroughly rinse. Finally, he does not have the dry flakes, and he does not scratch. Used it routinely and now no more trips to the vet for his skin. Good luck. |
Im surprised your vet hasnt done a skin scrape to check for mites. Thats what mine did when Jewels was losing hair. She didnt itch though and they never found out why she lost it. I think it needs to be treated at your vets Its probably allergies. |
losing hair i took my sammy to the vet....he has allergies..but he is taking his meds like a big boy :bravo: ...and dont mind the extra bath(two a week now) for his iching :D :jump28ib: thanks everyone....now i am lookin for my sammy a play mate..if anyone knows of one let me know please..smiles sammy and kimme  :yorkiesar :rose: :wavey: |
My Trixie was scratching her muzzle and losing hair on her face and chest. The vet told me it was a food allergy and gave me a medicated shampoo and conditioner called chlorhexidine. I changed her food and bathe her with this and so far, I've noticed less itching and some hair regrowth. |
