How often do you give bully sticks? How often do you give your yorkies bully sticks? I try not to give them to the girls more than twice a week to chew on because one of my girls gains weight if she so much LOOKS at something with calories. I really only let them have it on Saturday and Sunday mornings when I want an extra hour of sleep. However, my husband thinks they should have them a lot more because he likes to make the dogs “happy”. |
Never. :) |
I've seen a lot of talk about bully sticks. What are they exactly? Are they different from regular rawhide chew sticks? |
We usually give them after we've done dinner and head for the living room for the evening. Depending on what time they get it, they get it for the evening. Hot Rod will give up after a while and fall asleep. Maggie will chew like there is no tomorrow. lol If we don't give it to her, she will go over to the bookshelf that we put it on and just look at us with sad eyes. |
I give one to Lola everyday. I hope that's OK?? She doesn't seem to be gaining any weight... |

It's the only thing Gus likes to chew on besides furniture. However, it makes him thirsty, drink lots of water, & peeeeeeeeeeee a lot. Too bad, because it keeps him occupied for a long time. |
lexi always has one. i never take it away unless it gets too small and then i give her another one.. she only really chews it at night, after her dinner, i guess to clean her teeth |
We give diddy bully sticks all the time he's 3 months he just leaves it under the bed he'll go get it when he wants it sooo cute |
Maddie always has access to one. I have to watch them to make sure they don't get really yucky or too small, but she probably chews for about an hour a day on one. They are GREAT! |
I never gave a second thought to the calories or fat in a bullystick. But now I am wondering if that may have caused Zeus the extra padding around his ribs. Just went to the vet last week and he said Zeus is fat. Should I hold back on them? Any leaner solutions with the same benefits? |
:D Peanut ALWAYS has his bully sticks out. He doesnt chew them 24/7. He sit and chew on one for like 20 mins about 3 times a day. I notice he goes through them faster at work than at home!! I think they are a great product and I have nothing bad to say about them!! |
Wow! I never really thought about them having a lot of calories. I give one to Reesie several times during the week. |
Bonnie has hers when ever she wants too. But I notice she never chews when she is in her xpen, but as soon as i get home from work she runs and gets it -celebrating I guess. LOL |

My little ones will go to the fridge where we keep ours and they will cry and whine till we give them one. Too Cute |

There's always a couple laying around the house here. It takes Missy forever to eat one, so I'm not really worried about her having too much. |
I used to give them a couple of times a week but now I am rarely giving them. Ginger can't have them (MVD) and Molly will eat her bully stick AND Max's in no time flat. The last time I gave them to Max and Molly I was in and out of the room and over the span of 30 mins she had eaten her BRAIDED 6" as well as Max's. Needless to say, she had diarrhea :( I have a couple of bully sticks left so if I give them, it will only be for 10 mins at a time, supervised. I bought a bunch of little thin steer sticks (which are same as bullies, just smaller) so that I feel comfortable leaving alone for a few mins w/o having to worry about Molly gorging herself again (we have been dealing with some weight issues). I am wanting to try some antlers and himalayan chews b/c they are much harder and last a LOT longer than bully sticks.... so we shall see! |

They're a healthy treat that satifies chewing needs (it sure beats them chewing on my furniture). If you can come by my office one day, I will give you one for your pup. I get mine from YT member AMD and they have no smell. Just pm me if you're interested - I'd love to meet a fellow YT'r anyway & I don't work too far from where you live. I wanted to add - they carry them at Southern Ag but I think they're overpriced. |

Bonbon, I would love to meet up with you, maybe we can plan a play date with our furbabies.. I'm still a bit squimish on the bullys thingie. I live right around the corner from Southern Ag and I find MOST of is way over priced!!! ritzydaisy... I am pretty shocked (pastors wife here, not that Im sheltered or anything, but man, this one is a toughie...lol). Although, using all parts are a good thing and it IS much better than some of the parts of bulls people eat, although I'm afraid my dh would never let her kiss him again....lolol |
