Comfortis and Heartguard have worked great...any med that combines both? I have had my girl on Comfortis for fleas and Heartguard for Heartworm prevention for the last two years. I originally used topical medications for her fleas because I'm not a fan of putting things in these little guys' bodies if it can be prevented. Unfortunately, the fleas in my area in Florida are very bad, and all the topical meds failed :( Since I've started her on Comfortis, I have not seen a single flea on my girl, and I love it!!!! However, I was hoping for something that combined the two meds in one, and was just as effective for fleas. My biggest concern is its efficacy for flea prevention, since they are just sooooo darn bad here! Any suggestions? I really hate to give up comfortis, but I'd rather give my lil one 1 pill over two if I can :) |
Nope, it's unlikely that anything like that will ever come out. When Comfortis is given along with high doses of ivermectin, some not-so-good interactions have been reported. Since there is such a small amount of ivermectin being used when given in Heartgard, it is generally considered safe to use the drugs together; however, I doubt they will ever put the drugs together in one pill. |
