Can pup eat adult food? I am getting a little frustrated with feeding. I will feed the pup his food in his pen but have always let Jackson free feed so now I have to make sure his food is up when Tommy is out of his pen which is a lot. If I forget and one of them gets to the others food I have the runs on my hands.:( Can a pup at 16 weeks old gradually start on good quality adult food. Tommy is healthy and a good weight etc. |
I was faced with this same problem when we got Daisy. Nick is 10 months and Daisy is 9 weeks. I was about to switch Nick to adult food but didn't want to have to feed them separate. I free feed, also. I looked and looked for the prefect all life stages food that they both could eat, no matter the ages. I now feed Innova puppy and they both seem to like it. As long as the food you give the puppy is an ALS formula, it should be fine. What brand are you feeding? |
I had the same problem with my two. The baby would only eat out of the "big" bowl, so I went to Candidae ALS so I wouldn't have to worry about her getting enough to eat. |
What do you feed? Would you consider switching to an all stages food? (Then him eating the older dogs food wouldn't be an issue at all.) |
I am feeding Performatrin Puppy to Tommy and Jackson eats the same brand in adult . I get it at Pet Valu. I did the thing on here to see how good the food is and it rated pretty good. I dont believe it even has corn in it. I can look into the foods you guys are talking about though. Not sure if they are up here though An all stages food sounds good . I have not heard of that kind of dog food before.I know we have Canidae up here but not sure about Innova? Thanks for you advice.I will look into it. |

They seem to be getting more and more popular.... might try asking at your pet store if they carry any all stages food. They just might, and hopefully they'll be decent foods too! |

Our vet told us around 8 or 9 months she can start eating an adult food (so now her and Bandit won't run to each others bowls and eat each others food!) |
