Eating poop!!! I have my baby Kobe, who is 2 1/2 years old and is an angel. Then there's Mia, who is 11 weeks old and has been with us for a week now. I have a little problem, if I don't hold her back, she will put her poop in her mouth. I got distracted yesterday and caught her behind the sofa biting on her poop. I pick her up and say no in a firm voice, but she continues to do it. Help!!! |
My little Ksena was a poop eater too... I know, it's disturbing. I make sure I pay very close attention to pooping so that I can clean it up quickly but as I'm sure you are aware, one may slip by. Anyway, try pineapple it makes the poop taste nasty....or so I hear...lol! |
My Cody used to do that. I spoke to my vet and said...believe it or not use Accent. You know the food seasoning. He told me to sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon on his food do it every now and then until he stops. Well I only had to do it one time. He has never eaten it since. That has probably been about 4 years or more. |
LOL, yes I used Accent with Harry boy when I got him about 5 years ago.. his breeder told me about it..he was fond of his poop ,,:D is a learned behavior, doggy moms eat the babies poop to keep the whelping box and area clean, so the babies learn from the moms.. I don't know what is in the Accent that works, I used it with my puppies to make sure they did not eat their poop at 12 weeks when they went home to their families.. :D just a little sprinkle a couple of times and problem was solved..:animal36 |
thank you. will go out and buy it and sprinkle it on her food today. I caught her again this morning. YUCK!!! |
Ugh Lillie eats her poop too, it drives me CRAZY! However, I cut up one little chunk of pineapple a day and she seems to stay away from 'the turd' hahaha....I've only caught her once this week. YESS! |
Ugh. I'm with you guys.. Just recently Jimi has been having a problem with this too. :( He does not eat his own poop, but he will try to eat any other dog's poop he finds on walks, and he even tried to eat my cat's poop out of the litter box. eekk! |
We tried the pineapple, which I heard works very well, but mine didn't like it and wouldn't eat it. (They will eat poop but not pineapple~ go figure..) My vet told me about using Caines Meat Tenderizer. It must be similar to the Accent. It worked wonderfully on my furkids. I would give it to the cat too if they are eating the cat poo. |
I actually think it is the monosodium glutemate (ms) that keeps them from eating it. Just a guess though:cool: |
